I just have PTSD about trying to get defensive guys through the draft at this point. I think Allen, Payne, and Young are/were failures, and it took consecutive tanking years to get them all. Forbes sucked too.

I just think we'd get more value out of AP robbing rebuilding and or capped out teams of their strong veteran talent than praying for these high picks to pan out. Not to say we should sell all our picks to do that, but I'd like to add a bunch of good experienced guys with our higher picks and try to find some diamonds in the rough in the later rounds of the draft when the misses don't mean as much.

Allen and Payne were NOT failures at all. Look at the 2017 draft. Allen (drafted at 17) was a better player than every single player drafted after him except TJ Watt (drafted at 30) in the first round.

Look at the 2018 draft, I'd say James (17), Alexander (18), Ragnow (20), and Lamar (30) were all better players then Payne, but he hasn't been a bust at all. James has had injury issues, they had a good center in Chas Rouiller so Ragnow was out of the picture, and they were not taking Lamar after trading for Alex Smith.

They are failures from the standpoint that they are not lynchpins of an even mediocre defense at this point.

I don't fault Ron for those picks. Most were chalk picks. I'm saying that's kind of how it can go and I don't think we should play that game this go around.

I think Daniels got hurt on that first long run. The tackle from behind looked awkward. Then he just played through it for awhile before realizing yeah this is a problem.

No question. It's challenging at that speed, but when the CB and safety started to close on him he needed to flop to the ground to avoid a high speed collision.

Or run to the sidelines.

Luckily I think it was more so they felt like they were dog walking the **** Panthers so why let JD play hurt when he doesn't have too . He looked ok and X rays were negative. He just got banged up. One of those learning moments. Get down or get out of bounds before you get speared into next Tuesday.

I said it in the preseason, and every week after. Calling run plays for your quarterback is a recipe for disaster. They are quarterbacks, not running backs. Let Robinson, Echeler, and McNichols take the punishment...not your shiny new rookie quarterback.

No need to repeat past failures.

He also needs to learn how to slide. Play call was fine, it was a big gain, but just give yourself up at that point when 2 players are closing in.

Disagree. The play call sucked. Doesn't matter if it worked...one play is simply not worth getting your QB hurt, especially when that QB doesn't know how to slide.

If Klingsbury keeps calling run plays for the QB, Daniels WILL get hurt. Not might...will.

The mistake Daniels made was when he approached the one defender in front of him. He cut back inside instead of to the sidelines. If he cut to the sidelines he has a big gain without getting hit.

I have no problem with the play call. The plays i really didn't like were the called runs for JD inside which were happening earlier in the season.

I mean, you could just as easily get injured taking a sack. Just have to slide every time. Run? Slide. Run? Slide.

I think he's gotten much better in terms of protecting himself. Went from not looking like he could slide to doing it routinely. This will be a learning lesson as well.

I'm seeing no reason not to take a win now approach with this team in terms of trades. By the time you draft the defense to be good enough, half your offense might have aged out/gone to free agency. The only way to get more immediate impact players is to be either uncommonly good in the draft or to leverage some of the future in trades.

Saw a stat that Fowler has as many sacks as Young/Sweat combined.

Right now we actually have the best point differential in the league. Not saying it means much just found it amusing.
