NOP/PDX/SAC

Post#1 » by Waynearchetype » Mon Oct 21, 2024 5:05 pm

Kings trade: Trey Lyles, Devin Carter, Kevin Huerter, FRP
Kings Receive: Brandon Ingram, Kris Murray

Blazers trade: DeAndre Ayton, Kris Murray
Blazers Receive: Trey Lyles, Devin Carter, Kevin Huerter

NOP trade: Ingram
NOP Receives: DeAndre Ayton, FRP

Why for Kings? Trade some future assets for an impact player. My valuation of Ingram is a bit higher than most folks on this trade board, I have him as a similar cost to CJ McCollum years ago (quality starter, tier below all-star) which ultimately was about 2 FRP. Devin Carter and a future 1st feels about right. A big salary commitment going forward, but doesn't sacrifice a ton of future assets for what on paper should be a very competitive team. Adding Kris Murray is kind of a feel good move here as well.

Why for Blazers? Finding themselves with a glut of centers and forwards and a lack of guards. Roll the dice on Carter

Why for Pelicans? Get decent value from Ingram and get a center.

I cannot see Ayton pulling that package, they would just be cut out here.

Kings are overpaying a little bit here, I don't really understand their interest in Ingram though, so who knows.

NOP takes the Sac package and shops around for a bargain center.

I don't see them going for a bargain though. Maybe Capela if he is available, but given the situation that is still likely an FRP cost acquisition. NOP should be trying to put the best players on the floor they can though, they've got the theoretical pieces to be good, theres just not a ton of centers available. I think Capela gives them a bit better defense, while Ayton clears up the paint a bit for Zion. Age going forward is a positive for Ayton, and his next contract is likely going to be close to Capelas current. It's a toss up for me.

As a pels fan I would rather cut out Portland and keep that SAC return. Which of course SAC would never offer

Rather just stand pat given the options to pay for either Ayton or Capela. Neither are going to be difference makers, so why pay anything real for either player. There are a lot more stones to turn over than these two overpaid centers.

I'd pass on Ingram in general, but definitely don't want to include Carter, a 1st, and 2 rotation players.

I don't see a fit for him here. Fox and DeRozan both live in the same spot on the floor, and Sabonis/Monk need the ball also. Just too many play makers and not enough role players with Ingram.

This is probably a Devin Carter overpay to even be considered by Sacramento.

Ya and you can’t talk Ingram into a bench role like you can for say Kuzma or Grant because he can opt out after the year

Well the fact the Kings also get Chris Murray in the deal seems to be ignored by Pels fans. If you take out Portland who replaces Chris in the deal.

I still think the 3rd team in a Ayton - Ingram swap is LAL.

Ayton to NO
Ingram to LAL
Russell + pick to PDX

To make this work logistically - it would need to be something like this. I'm not sure the value can be tweaked to make it fair. I think this might be DOA:

Pels
Ingram -> Ayton

Lakers
Russell, Vincent, Vanderbilt, _picks?_ -> Ingram, Banton, Walker

Blazers
Ayton, Banton, Walker -> Russell, Vincent, Vanderbilt, _picks?_

Holy garbage. Portland throws the phone at OPs grandmas face.

We are not giving away DA.. stop this madness for the love of God. We’re not even interested in trading him. He’s one of our leaders if you pay any attention which you clearly don’t.

This doesn't appear to be a consensus view among Blazers fans. In any event, if the Blazers have no cap space to sell for two summers in a row, during a rebuild, that's an L.

What is the plan with the capspace?

Btw, I’d take a chance on the trade because of the inclusion of Devin Carter.

The plan should be to sell it for picks. Anytime you're in a 4-5 year rebuild you should be able to flip cap space for at least two firsts. Especially given how many teams planned poorly with respect to the first and second aprons.

I’d be ok with that plan. I was just checking because Blazers fans often hear of plans to clear space for free agents, which is just not a realistic option for this team.
