Unlike the Jalen Green one, this one is great

Yeah no complaints here. Great job (on this one) for Houston.

Good on Houston, good on Alperen.

RIP Capspace and a big win for FVV and Adams, who likely stick with the team now.

Free agency seems officially dead.

I like this one more than Green. Guessing the Green deal is just a bridge deal that is up before all of Thompson, Whitmore, Shepard. And knowing they were skipping free agency decided to keep the talent.

My question is will Houston continue to seek to add veteran talent or give the kids another year with some grownups still mixed in?

Feels like one of the few extensions today that actually saved the team money by signing today. Very likely Sengun gets the Max if they wait, can't say the same for Murphy, Suggs or even Jalen Johnson.

Don't know if there is anymore room for veteran talent.

Brooks, FVV and Adams are all rotation guys, but the team is 10 deep. Green and Holiday are likely out of the rotation.

Next move has got to be to try for a star trade

Yeah thanks. I should have been more clear -- I meant chasing guys like Durant or Bridges(not a star but...). Real difference makers more than the guys they added last summer.

I'm guessing you believe they will continue to try to get that done.

I believe the next domino, probably next offseason, will be too lock in FVV and Steven Adams to long term deals, at lower AAV.

Then its just waiting to see if another star player gets disgruntled. (My eyes are on Trae Young and Devin Booker).

In fairness, players coming off of a rookie contract never really had a proper "free agency".

Feels like Alperen cost himself some cash here. But, great for Houston.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

Best deal of the day

20% cap for 5 years.

This is the same starting price as Jalen Green but with 2 extra years just to put in to context these deals.

Perhaps. It's not easy to build around a center like him.

It honestly isn't harder than building a team around any other star player.

It is. Ask the Pacers, Kings, and Knicks (soon to be the Wolves). He'd get offers as he'd immediately be the best player on a team like the Nets or Pistons, but not everyone would offer him the contract he'd be expecting.

You can say the same about a player that plays any other position. There are variables that impacts every team's decision making when it comes to available players.

As far as building a team around a player: every team tries to surround them with versatile defenders and shooters.

That’s where I’m at. Super talented guy but the Rockets were better after he went out. They have an incredible roster and keeping the asset at this price makes sense. I mean people talk about free agency like it’s 10 or 20 years ago. The vast majority of stars are moved via trade. Sengun could make a great piece in a deal down the line.
