I don't know man. This feels bad. We're not going to form any cohesion is guys are constantly out/injured/resting. I don't want this to become the same thing Phoenix dealt with last year where there was only like 20 games the entire season where Beal, Durant, and Booker were healthy together.

They were still a 49 win team, and I don't think that big 3 is as good as the Sixers' big 3 can be.
I do want them to get real chemistry together. And to give the role players time to show what they can do around the big 3 so we can make better informed trade decisions. Hopefully they've played 30+ games together by the trade deadline.

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 5
Here's my shot at a rotation staggering the big 3 (when healthy).
------------------------------------------------------
STARTING (6 min)
Embiid CMartin PG13 Oubre Maxey
=PG13-MAXEY (4 min)
Drummond CMartin PG13 2G* Maxey
=EMBIID-MAXEY (4 min)
Embiid Yabusele Oubre 2G* Maxey
=PG13-EMBIID (4 min)
Embiid CMartin PG13 Oubre 1G*
=== Rotate the previous 3 lineups from mid-1st qtr to mid-4th qtr ===
FINISHING WITH THE STARTERS (6 min)
Embiid CMartin PG13 Oubre Maxey
------------------------------------------------------
Minutes totals:
Embiid, CMartin, PG13, Oubre, Maxey: 36 min each for the starters
2G*: 24 minutes
Drummond, Yabusele, 1G*: 12 minutes
2G* is the backup shooting guard/small forward. Currently up for grabs, with the main contenders being KJ Martin, Council, Eric Gordon, Jared McCain. Most likely, these minutes will be split among multiple players for a long time, but someone will eventually emerge as the main option there.
1G* is the backup point guard. Most likely Kyle Lowry, but maybe Jared McCain will surprise us and grab those minutes.
(Yes, PG13 now wears #8. I still called him PG13. Such is life.)

The Murphy dream is already dead. He just signed long-term deal with NOP.

I get the pessimism; but I do think there will be enough time. If Sixers had just announced that Joel was ready for opening night; but wouldn't play in a single preseason game for precautionary reasons; then we'd all be a lot better right now. It was really poor messaging that put us all in a tilt.

And now a look at how the rotation might work without Embiid.
------------------------------------------------------
STARTING (6 min)
Drummond CMartin PG13 Oubre Maxey
=MAXEY lineup (4 min)
Drummond CMartin Oubre 2G* Maxey
=PG13 lineup (4 min)
Yabusele CMartin PG13 Oubre 1G*
=MAXEY-PG13 with bench (4 min)
Yabusele Bona PG13 2G* Maxey
=== Rotate the previous 3 lineups from mid-1st qtr to mid-4th qtr ===
FINISHING WITH THE STARTERS (6 min)
Drummond CMartin PG13 Oubre Maxey
------------------------------------------------------
Minutes totals:
CMartin, PG13, Oubre, Maxey: 36 min each for these starters
Drummond, Yabusele, 2G*: 24 min
Bona, 1G*: 12 minutes

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 5
Finally, a look at how the rotation might work without PG13.
------------------------------------------------------
STARTING (6 min)
Embiid CMartin Oubre 2Ga* Maxey
=MAXEY lineup (4 min)
Drummond CMartin Oubre 2Ga* Maxey
=Embiid lineup (4 min)
Embiid CMartin Oubre 2Gb* 1G*
=EMBIID-MAXEY with bench (4 min)
Embiid Yabusele 2Gb* 2Gc* Maxey
=== Rotate the previous 3 lineups from mid-1st qtr to mid-4th qtr ===
FINISHING WITH THE STARTERS (6 min)
Embiid CMartin Oubre 2Ga* Maxey
------------------------------------------------------
Minutes totals:
Embiid, CMartin, Oubre, Maxey: 36 min each for these starters
2Ga*, 2Gb*: 24 min
Drummond, Yabusele, 2Gc*, 1G*: 12 minutes
2Ga*/2Gb*/2Gc* come from this group of shooting guards/small forwards: KJ Martin, Council, Eric Gordon, Jared McCain. Most likely, these roles will be in flux for a long time. When Paul George is out, we're going 3 deep into the bench, so there's also a chance that a deep bench player could snag one of these roles: Reggie Jackson, Justin Edwards, Jeff Dowtin, or Lester Quinones. That would be surprising, but it's possible.
1G* is the backup point guard. Most likely Kyle Lowry, but maybe Jared McCain will surprise us and grab those minutes.

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 5
So Embiid may not play opening night because he still hasn’t been fully ramped up. See, I just don’t get this. They had plenty of time to ramped him up. He played in the Olympics. Shouldn’t they have started this process early enough so he’d be ready to play opening night? It seems like every thing they do with Embiid involves just figuring it out as they go.

Where did you see that, everything seems to be pointing to him playing opening night. The latest tweets from Kyle Neubeck says that, and their pod says the same thing. Initially I had my doubts as well, but it just seems like they're being very conservative.
If anyone is not going to play it'll be PG, and not Embiid.

So with Murphy getting his extension. The Warriors paid Moses Moody. The Rockets paid Jalen Green and Sengun.
Who's left for Morey's parachute package deal?
Kuminga?
Herb Jones?
Do the Rockets have Jabari Smith money?
Do the Rockets have Jabari Smith money and Tari Eason money?

There doesn't seem to be a lot of guys left that make <$20M this season that seem pretty available AND worth the big draft pick package.stormi wrote:So with Murphy getting his extension. The Warriors paid Moses Moody. The Rockets paid Jalen Green and Sengun.

Still a some guys that could be available that would help the team though.
F: Kuminga, Eason, Aldama, Fonteccio, Batum, J. Smith, Love, Olynyk
Gs: Bogdanovic (would cost Oubre), Coby White, Dusunmu
Ideal scenario for me would be the Sixers swing all those picks for a well-fitting stud role player that is locked into a good contract like Herb Jones, Keegan Murray or Avdija. However, a lot of these players were recently locked in and I feel like either their team wouldn't be ready to trade them or Morey wouldn't think they're worth the inflated price the teams would ask for.

If we are wish casting, I would vote for Jabari Smith. He’d be an excellent PF for this team.

DFS has always been the name to keep an eye out for. I’m personally not a huge fan but it seems the Sixers like him.

That article was a mess even for Keith I couldn't really figure out what he actually meant. Was he saying that was what they were gonna do or what he thought was smart or what someone told him would be smart or what.
The Sixers are still favored in the game and the line hasn't moved at all which I assume would change if people thought he wasn't gonna play.

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 5
Sixers announce Embiid not playing in any games this week and will be evaluated in the weekend. Not good. PG to miss the opener too.
So Embiid will miss the Bucks and Raptors game and PG misses at least the Bucks.
Every time you want to get on board with this organization, they spit in your face. It's like clockwork.

Re: Sixers Offseason Thread Part 5
I don't get the overreactions?
I understand it is annoying to start the season like this, but I would not worry until this starts to happen regularly and the guys cannot stay together on the field.
You cannot be like "we need to privilege the health of the guys for may" and then throw the towel about the first game/week in October.
