Where are they now? Time flies

Post#1 » by Vampirate » Mon Oct 21, 2024 6:49 am

A Look back at all the players that lead up to the championship.

Kawhi Leonard - Perpetually injured star
Kyle Lowry - A year or 2 from retirement
Ibaka - Playing in another League
Gasol - Retired
Siakam - Helping the Pacers
O.G. - Integral park of the current Knicks
Norman Powell - Entering his 30s as a bench scorer
FVV - Absolutely cashed in on FA with the Rockets
Danny Green - Retired

Demar - Now on the Kings at age 35
JV - Stuck on the Wizards, relic of the past
Terrance Ross - Retired at age 31

If you watch the last 2 seconds you'd catch a glimpse of a former raptor.

Norm is a starter for the Clippers this year with PG gone. With Kahwi out indefinitely he'll likely be their number 2 scorer behind James Harden.

The depth on that team was amazing because you had someone who would make the all-star game in FVV, another who would make an all-defensive team and be widely considered one of the best defenders in the NBA in OG, Ibaka who was a three time all-d team member, and Norm who has generlaly been considered one of the best bench scorers in the league year after year.

In terms of championship teams where you look at where all the players wound up and how talented they were looking back, it's gotta rank up there just through how much a lot of the younger pieces turned out.

Time does fly, as Kawhi is entering his 6th year as a Clipper. Before you know it they'll be celebrating the 10 anniversary of the championship.

My favorite example of NBA turnover is the 2021 Phoenix Suns finalists. A year ago they started the 23-24 season with Booker as the only remaining player from the Finalist roster
There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.

I like Norm, but I will be surprised if that team does any damage in the west. No Kawhi, goodluck

He demonstrates to the young players exactly what NOT to do in live games. That's true veteran leadership.

Nah, it's Russell's time to shine.

Boucher ! You forgot Boucher!

He contributed more to our playoff run than OG did :)

And he's still a Raptor

I read DeMar's book and apparently Darrick Martin visiting Compton was a huge deal.
