This game was a mix of them being awful on defense, and the Celtics hitting everything from 3 for the first 3 quarters.

Definitely relieved Mikal shot it better in the second half. Someone needs to tell him to keep doing that and less of that bull hitch in the 1st half.

I predicted 52-54 wins and about 15-20 games for them to get comfortable playing with each other.

I was freaking irritated tonight, but am stepping off the ledge. They need someone to bring some toughness to this team, because I do not see one single person that will clap back when they get punched in the mouth like they did tonight.

TWolves fans learning early that Randle sure loves to hold the ball. Dude held the ball for 7 seconds and then passed up with 1 second left on the shot clock. Man what a sigh of relief.

But like I said in the game thread most of you know it takes time for new teams to build chemistry...

You did say that, but watching it just feels different, no?

If we came out and beat the Celtics today - I would have guaranteed we would win the chip this year. Honestly, I didnt expect a win just for the simple fact that guys like Kat, Hart, OG, Mikal and even Brunson are going to have to spend a lot of time making adjustments. Theres a lot going on...Kat for one had to move his family here and Im sure he didnt have time to get together with the guys and thibs to practice. The trade happened so close to training camp there just wasnt any time...

Talent can't win a chip alone- the fact that Boston won - shows you that their chemistry is elite. No way a new team (regardless of talent) was going to out play them. This is a team sport. Chemistry supersedes talent in BB.

So to answer your question it didnt feel different- It makes sense...

I feel you but… it’s the WAY we lost.

We are paying OG 40 million to be the defensive enforcer. Bridges was supposed to be the best 3D guy ever and Hart was actually tough last year. Don’t know what happened to any of them but this looks awful.

We had to do it but yes it will take time and more roster tweaks to recover.

game 1 of 82.

I keep saying this to myself. They got blown out. It happens in this league, fairly often. This team will be fine in the regular season. My concern is how they are going to matchup come playoff time.

They need some dogs on this team.

We need to take more 3’s. Can’t let a team take twice as many 3’s as us like that.

Replace Mitch with KAT and these clips look the same.

It’s a scheme issue.

We always play drop coverage against them for whatever reason and it breeds the same result.

Maybe Thibs thought our perimeter defense would have been better with two good wing defenders so he could get away with it, but Mikal and OG were nonexistent tonight

Mikal was ineffective against Tatum. I had assumed that OG would be the one defending Tatum more but I don't recall seeing that much today.

Mikal offensively did what we can expect 16 points on 13 shots in 34 minutes with one turnover? Seems right.

respectfully...there is no chemistry today and that will never look or feel good...talk to me in 20 games...
and you might not like hearing that but progress takes sacrifice and that Towns trade had to be made...
the mikal trade had to be made...what you saw tonight is part of the path that we have to go through...
Try to look at the positives - it will make the ride more enjoyable...

Not really. I don’t think any logical person would’ve expected anything different? We are obviously way off on our communication on defence, and the Celtics take and make the most threes. There were actually more positives than I expected

R***** and D*** missed their first shots with the Wolves...Knicks win the trade.
If you'd rather see your team fail so you can be right

we could've traded half those picks for herb or murphy, kept randle and divo, signed a serviceable center that likes to crash the boards and play defense. been right back to where we were in january, better even
NiceLikeChrist wrote:We are going to deeply regret this. We traded away the best player in the trade and still had to give up a great role player AND a pick?

so many people are going to eat their words about randle

 This game wasn’t lost because we didn’t match them on attempts. It was lost because they were awful defensively, and allowed them to get into a rhythm to the point where they couldn’t miss. Even the ones that were contested.

yup everyone needs to review that tape and take accountability including thibs as well.

Knowing the personalities in the room I believe they will put in the time and effort to be a decent defensive team. Tonight was an abomination.

Indy won't be a much easier task. Will be a good test with a couple days off to see how they adjust.
