Trying to put a positive spin on this, hopefully it motivates all the players to realize it's going to take a lot of hard work to get to their potential. It's not going to be easy.

not a -33 tho...
Against an offense like Boston? Food.
OG and Mikal need to be our menances on defense. our starters had 1 steal and 0 blocks
Celtics had like a 10 to 1 assist to turnover ration. We put no pressure on the ball. It was very weird like the guys just weren't sure where to be on defense.

You know what's bad....
The ultimate troll and Knicks hater, Reggie Miller...was giving his utmost vote of confidence to this team right down to the final buzzer, saying "Knicks are 2nd best team in the east and maybe the entire NBA"..."this is just one game" and "after the have some time together, you're going to see".
Meanwhile folks on this board are claiming the season is over and the team is terrible after the first game of the season against the defending champs at their home.

he'll stand for it when he already has 2 assists and generated multiple open 3s and layups for his teammates

so many people are going to eat their words about randle

A good wake up call. We needed this after hearing how awesome we are after all those trades.
You can't play that sort of drop defense or high trap defense against Boston. You just can't. Better off switching everything and then forcing them to do more 1-on-1's. Live with contested 2's. Help off of Hortford or Holiday here and there. Let Tatum play hero ball.
Mix in some zone to throw them off.

Honestly, I didnt expect a win just for the simple fact that guys like Kat, Hart, OG, Mikal and even Brunson are going to have to spend a lot of time making adjustments. Theres a lot going on...Kat for one had to move his family here and Im sure he didnt have time to get together with the guys and thibs to practice. The trade happened so close to training camp there just wasnt any time...
Talent can't win a chip alone- the fact that Boston won - shows you that their chemistry is elite. No way a new team (regardless of talent) was going to out play them. This is a team sport. Chemistry supersedes talent in BB.
So to answer your question it didnt feel different- It makes sense...
I feel you but… it’s the WAY we lost.
respectfully...there is no chemistry today and that will never look or feel good...talk to me in 20 games...
and you might not like hearing that but progress takes sacrifice and that Towns trade had to be made...
the mikal trade had to be made...what you saw tonight is part of the path that we have to go through...
Try to look at the positives - it will make the ride more enjoyable...
Factsssss , preach bro

I am guilty for stepping on the ledge during the game. But, ultimately I think they’ll get it together.
I need someone on this team to step up as an enforcer though. Would like to have seen a hard foul being committed when Boston abandoned any resemblance of an offense and kept chucking up 3’s in an attempt to break the record. You can’t let that **** slide.

Imagine if Deuce was 4 or 5 inches taller. Knicks better sign him to another extension before the word gets out.

we could've traded half those picks for herb or murphy, kept randle and divo, signed a serviceable center that likes to crash the boards and play defense. been right back to where we were in january, better even
Why would New Orleans do that? They wouldn’t.

Let’s be honest, he’s not world beating here
He has 2 rebounds and 2 assists
Thats nothing so phenomenal after playing 8 mins

I prefer not to be mindless in my assessments of ANY team and take just blind emotional fandom out of the equation ESPECIALLY after just 1 game.
This its exactly what i said was possible early on to my buddies. Celtics are a very high class squad on the high of receiving their rings in their opener and we are a work in progress squad looking for a new identity....
Honestly we have one of the toughest 10 game starting stretch in the NBA, I wouldn't be surprised by a 4-6 type start. People underestimate integrating an entire new system and 4 of 5 new starters in the lineup!
If one month or so from now the same stuff is happening....thats when you begin to wonder if the heavy switching system that the Celts absolutely abused will work anymore.
Keep in mind also if the KAT experimenting at 5 blows chunks.....
they gonna probably go back to last years system when Mitch and/or Achiuwa come back. They will probably utilze KAT more like Wolves did at that point at the 4 and Mitch/Precious at 5. It kind of becomes much more like last year but switching Randle for KAT (win here IMO) at 4 and the more defensive wing Bridges (vs Divencenzo debateble if a win but clearly win defensively) at the 2.
So ultimately Im not worried. They have so much versatility in what they can do when the Centers come back.

Thibs might indeed have to implement the zone next time we play them. But generally I am satisfied with what I saw. Hopefully they get motivation to bring it against the Pacers on Friday.
You know these bums will come back to earth next game with Tatum shooting his patented 3-30

Some fans nowadays become attached to individual players, and will root for those players more than they root for their team. They’ll even root for their team to lose if it paints their crush in a more favorable light. Some psychologists theorize the curious attachments stem from the lack of a father figure in their developmental stages
