I'm concerned he's headed toward Kawhi Leonard territory. A guy who has knee issues that won't go away and they're always a ticking time bomb to flare up and sideline him. A 7'2 300 lb man had a chunk of his meniscus removed. The fact that he's not ready to play this far removed from a January surgery has me concerned that his knee is not responding to training and practicing because his knee is bone on bone in there now or at least partially so, and he's getting swelling and inflammation. And if that's the case nine months removed from surgery, that's not good at all.

I mean, you're saying you're just concerned and right after that wrote an entire medical diagnosis from thin air. :-?

Stop trying to spin this. You yourself said this blows. It insults our intelligence as fans to claim this is normal.

I don’t understand how you cannot be ready for the first game of the season

Imo the knee is not where it should be. I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't have a clean up and they can't say it for the fallout and need to spin it with this current bs.

This is how they've operated since Bynum. So unless you think Embiid won't play another game as a Sixer, I don't get the reference.

The subterfuge is very Bynum like. The videos of him working out but not playing is very Bynum like.

It feels like we’ve been trending in this direction for a couple weeks. Either way, Embiid usually looks like garbage for the first 10 games because he’s never ready for the start of the season. Is it embarrassing & unprofessional? Yes, of course but it’s just normal early season drama for us.

Page 55 has my takes on rotations: (a) with everyone healthy, (b) with no Embiid, and (c) with no PG. I guess we also need one with neither of the two, so here goes...

Potential rotation without Embiid or PG13.

------------------------------------------------------
STARTING (6 min)
Drummond CMartin Oubre 2Ga* Maxey

=MAXEY lineup (4 min)
Drummond Yabusele 2Gb* 2Ga* Maxey

=CALEB & OUBRE lineup (4 min)
Yabusele CMartin Oubre 2Gb* 1G*

=DEEP BENCH SLOTS lineup (4 min)
Bona CMartin Oubre 2Gc* Maxey

=== Rotate the previous 3 lineups from mid-1st qtr to mid-4th qtr ===

FINISHING WITH THE STARTERS (6 min)
Drummond CMartin Oubre 2Ga* Maxey
------------------------------------------------------

Minutes totals:
CMartin, Oubre, Maxey: 36 min each for these starters
Drummond, Yabusele, 2Ga*, 2Gb*: 24 min
Bona, 2Gc*, 1G*: 12 minutes

2Ga*/2Gb*/2Gc* come from this group of shooting guards/small forwards: KJ Martin, Council, Eric Gordon, Jared McCain. Most likely, these roles will be in flux for a long time. When going 3 deep into the bench from that group, there's a chance that a deep bench player could snag one of these roles: Reggie Jackson, Justin Edwards, Jeff Dowtin, or Lester Quinones. That would be surprising, but it's possible.

1G* is the backup point guard. Most likely Kyle Lowry, but maybe Jared McCain will surprise us and grab those minutes.

===
Actual minutes prediction:
Spoiler:
Since this situation with neither Embiid nor George is what we face for game #1, I'll go ahead and throw out some wild guesses with actual names. Predicted minutes totals. Based on the above, but tweaked some:
Maxey 36
Oubre 36
CMartin 32
Drummond 26
Yabusele 22
Eric Gordon 20 (2Ga* - starting)
Lowry 20 (1G* but with extra minutes)
Ricky Council 16 (2Gb* but with fewer minutes)
KJ Martin 14 (2Gc* but with extra minutes)
Bona 10
McCain 8 (Not in the above framework but he gets some time somewhere along the line)

Yeah we shouldn't have to put up with this ****. It's pathetic at this point. Least I'm not paying for tickets, but if I were a paying fan, or a season ticket holder I'd want my money back. The shadiness of this is just mind numbingly stupid.

It's one of several potential possibilities for why he's unable to play opening day. None of which are good and all worth being concerned about.

It’s just an extremely bad look that he played in the Olympics and then a few months later he’s not ready to play the first week of the season??? there’s really no excuse for it. It’s quite pathetic.

Damn, I think Tatum fixed his jumper. The Celtics are gonna be really tough to beat this year.

It’s starting to feel like the Knicks could be in trouble. Their starting 5 will struggle to protect them rim on D, Bridges jumper looks busted, and they have to find a new offensive identity.

Hard to draw conclusions over a half of basketball, but I would have hated their off-season moves were I a Knicks fan. Stripped much of the toughness and attitude from a group that thrived on it, and didn't even get what they needed most, a second creator. They'll be a playoff team and a high seed, but that isn't close to a championship outfit.

lol people really freaking out or are surprised by this?

1. since when does this team make the smart choice for these things

2. the moment we heard he hadn't scrimmaged , it was obvious he'd sit out the first game IMO.

3. We obviously were demons in our past lives and this is our punishment

It shouldn't be that hard for them to say what is wrong and give an actual time line. These **** keep dragging us along, and then people are surprised. Worst PR in the world.

The reaction is they let him play in the freaking olympics. Are they now admitting he really wasn't healthy enough to do that and they did it anyway??? This is just a continuation of the BS handling of Joel from Colangelo letting him play injured for a prime time game that lead to his very first meniscus injury.

They don't learn and then they lie to their fan base. I'm sick of it.

Man, I have this sick feeling in my stomach that we're going to end up needing to dump the Clippers picks to move Joel's extension in a scramble to try and build around Maxey. It won't be this year, but in a year or 2? Yeah, this is how it feels like we, as the fans, will get done dirty again.

Someone tell the Mayor to pass an ordinance requiring a mini-Billy Penn statue affixed to the tallest building in the city? Anything to try and end this freaking sports curse over this City.
