• Jayson Tatum has scored 11,852 points in Boston, which ranks No. 13, but he is just 1,337 points away from passing JoJo White (13,188) for No. 10 in team history. Tatum scored 1,987 points last season and has scored more than 2,000 points in the two seasons before that. Another campaign with about 1,980 points would move him past No. 12 Tom Heinsohn (12,194), No. 11 Bill Sharman (12,287), White and No. 9 Dave Cowens (13,192).

Tatum has 563 steals in his career, which ranks No. 12 in Celtics’ lore. He is seven steals away from passing both Reggie Lewis and Cowens (569) for No. 10. Additionally, Tatum ranks No. 16 in rebounds (3,670) and needs 335 more rebounds to pass Paul Silas (4,004) for No. 15 in that statistic. Over the past three seasons, Tatum is averaging 619 rebounds per season which puts Silas within as well as Cedric Maxwell (4,023) at No. 14.

Tatum can move into the top 10 in free throws made and supplant Maxwell (2,738) with 437 or more free throws in 2024-25. Last season, Tatum sank 414 free throws and is averaging 448 free throws per season over his last three seasons. If Tatum gets to 437, he’d also move ahead of No. 11 Ed Macauley (2,724), No. 12 Tom Heinsohn (2,648), No. 13 Don Nelson (2,534) and No. 14 Frank Ramsey (2,480).

Tatum isn’t known as a paint-protector, but he has amassed 346 career blocks (No. 13 all-time in Boston). He needs 33 blocks to pass No. 10 Maxwell (378) and has posted 47 blocks per season over his last three seasons, putting that mark well within reach. Along the way, Tatum would pass No. 12 Robert Williams III (348) and No. 11 Tony Battie (369) on the team’s list.

That's all well and good, but I hope Tatum passes Bill Russell for the franchise record in championships as well lol, the last one with Deuce.

Not counting rookies, Tatum has the highest average # of playoff games played per season* in the NBA at 16.14 among active players.

Too lazy to confirm, but that number must be up there as among highest in NBA history (so even among retired players). Jaylen Brown is at 15.5.

*counting every season in the NBA including injured seasons

He also holds the record for active streak of consecutive postseason appearances for a single team with 7. (Harden hasn't missed a postseason in his 15-year career but has jumped teams several times already.)

98 TS% this season. Zoya's complaints about his shot selection have finally nudged him into efficient shotmaking :D

now THIS is an appropriate use of sample size and Tatum
my only concern is that a) it doesn't leave much room for improvement next season and b) Tatum doesn't even like basketball

Tatum last night became the first player in NBA history to record 35+ points, 10+ assists and hit 8+ 3s while shooting at least 75% from the field in a game.

Heard rumors that Zoya kept bugging Drew Hanlen too in social media. Just relentless pursuit of greatness for Tatum.

That Zoya must be one heck of a fan, great to have someone like this on board.

I know we are having fun because we are wild and crazy guys, but I had a thought about Tatum and Brown and their stats the other day:

how many of us know or care what Larry Bird's stats were like year-over-year during the 1980s?
I haven't. Ever.
That's where I hope to see the careers of Jaylen and Jayson get.
Not saying they are Bird or are going to get in his atmosphere -- which I consider the most rarified air of any basketball player ever.
But string a few more titles together and no one cares about your stats. Does anyone talk about Kobe's stats? Duncan's? Magic's?
No. Stats are for Westbrook, Wilt, Luka, Harden, and all the other 'dominant' historical losers.

Unless... looking at it now, Larry led the league in BPM and VORP for four straight years, WS and WS/48 for two, and even was the league's leading DWS four times(!).

If Tatum plays at a 90% level of last night for 80% of the games then he will be the MVP.
