It's either gonna be a year of stalled-out player growth and frustration, which translates to 38-43 wins and Weltman's seat getting warm, or a year of players making leaps (50 wins, playoffs). The safer bet feels like the former.
I am willing to bet your house the Magic win at least 41 games.
My house is worth way too much to bet. I'm going with 43 wins anyway. Sounds about right.

Re: Predictions for the 2024/25 Season
I'm going 50+ wins this year. Are starting lineup is going to compete this season at a higher level through personnel improvement and independent growth. Safe thing with the bench (top 5 bench is a possibility). And looking around the league.... I feel like we have some of the best chances of surviving injuries to most players.
Most excited I've been for a season! Let's go magic!

Re: Predictions for the 2024/25 Season
Some topic thoughts.
- What is / was the value of Fultz + Ingles in terms of veteran leadership
- Are the reigns truly being given to AB? Or are they being given to Harris + Cole? Is this combo better then Fultz / Ingles in terms of "veteran" leadership
- KCP is a veteran, so does he negate Fultz?
- Who rises up to negate Ingles if he was important?
Usually teams who start force feeding younger players as a transitioning period do worse and sometimes demonstrably worse the next year. Do our prime time players have enough to make up for a potentially weaker second unit this season?

Re: Predictions for the 2024/25 Season
My prediction is 48 wins, we are stronger than we were last year but so is the East as a whole and we probably be less relatively lucky with injuries compared to the rest of the conference than last season.

David Aldridge picks the Magic to face the Celtics in the Eastern Conference finals...
Twenty-four big questions for the NBA season
Eastern Conference playoff teams, non-Play-In?
Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Orlando, Cleveland, Milwaukee, Miami, Indiana.
And the Eastern finals?

Re: Predictions for the 2024/25 Season
Hell yeah! I don't think this is all that crazy. Our schedule is favorable, our team is better, and our player development tailwinds are tops in the league. We are at the point in development where incremental improvement is more expensive but we've got so many positive growth drivers I think we could just keep taking leaps.YosemiteSam wrote:David Aldridge picks the Magic to face the Celtics in the Eastern Conference finals...Eastern Conference playoff teams, non-Play-In?

49 wins is my guess. We look strong and more importantly deep. Injuries cost teams a lot of wins and I have faith in our second unit.

Re: Predictions for the 2024/25 Season
Interesting that so many people predicted us having worst year than last.
We would have to go on 23-8 run for rest of a season to catch our previous win total.

Right now the goal must be to go 17-14 to finish 41-41: correct?
(55% over the final 31 games)

Its crazy that we beat ESPN's prediction even with the injuries. They were extremely low on this team.

Plot twist. when they calculate wins, they take injuries in considiration as well
Earlier today i was listening podcast about nba awards and guys made argument that teams should ulitize 4 on 5 defense vs Magic to have one guy camp below our rim because our offense probably can't even score even on 4 v5
I think i voted 42 -44 wins. Too optimistic, i know that's my problem

Re: Predictions for the 2024/25 Season
Cole's season continues the negative career trend. He definitely needs a new team to try and salvage things. Just compare how AB was used compared to 5th year Cole...
Anthony Black, in just his second year, already surpasses fifth-year player Cole Anthony in assist ratio (64th vs. 60th percentile), defensive effectiveness (85th vs. 49th percentile Def EPI), and minutes played (24.0 MPG vs. 18.5 MPG), indicating he's trusted more by coaches and excels defensively and as a playmaker earlier in his career.
