I can't believe the season is already here, time flies.
Probably won't be watching most regular season games again this season. You all will have to let me know how they look.

I'll try to continue to post the occasional clip. I've been focusing hard on the play calls instead of particular players so I'll change my focus once I think I get what Kenny wants to do

Re: Game 1: Cavs @ Raptors 10/23/2024
Fouls and turnovers are the story of the 1Q.
Seems like Kenny wants the bigs to dribble up the floor, but the Raps have been attacking them when they dribble the ball and each time its lead to a turnover or pick-up. I assume we are not gonna see that the rest of the night
Just gonna add an edit instead of a new post: they are still having the big man take it up occasionally

FanDuel is $20/month.

Kenny already played 10 guys and its only Q2 so that's a change for sure.

Not really. The only new player added to the rotation is Jerome (who was unavailable) and thats with Strus out. One of Garland/Mitchell and Allen/Mobley are still on the floor at all times.

I really want LeVert and Niang gone. Scotty Barnes is very overrated.

Mobley doesn't appear to be all that stronger but he is playing way stronger so far. Just overpowered Barnes on defense

Evan was asserting himself .vs. the Celtics (without Porzingis) in the playoffs, dealing with a pretty small Raptors team is in his wheelhouse.

LeVert and Niang both had good games, so, kind of weird timing to beat that drum.
Ty Jerome was pretty impressive too.
Jaylon Tyson got his first bucket as a pro.
Garland got in foul trouble and looked pretty bad again.
Anyway, tougher teams than the blown up Raptors (who lost Quickley) coming up I imagine.

Garland had 6 assists in 22 minutes (2 of which were to Niang). The Raptors hid Dick on LeVert and LeVert was leaking out, often before we secured the defensive rebound. On the one hand, running against teams like the Raptors and getting easy buckets is good regular season basketball. On the other hand, I've seen what happens when we don't secure the rebound and LeVert needs to score against good defenders or good defensive teams that get back.
It's game 1 and we won by 30. A lot of time to figure things out. I still want to be able to score in the half court against good defensive teams because that's what you have to do against playoff teams.

Thankfully they have 81 more games to lock in the half court offense.jbk1234 wrote:JonFromVA wrote:jbk1234 wrote:I really want LeVert and Niang gone. Scotty Barnes is very overrated.

Not a single Cavs starter played over 28 minutes, love to see it. I hope that trend continues.

Well, if we win in blowouts and pull the starters with 8 minutes left every game, I'm not going to complain. In a more competitive game you'd see the starters get one more 4+ minute shift at a minimum.

In theory Toronto should be a pretty good defensive team. Poeltl, Barnes, Quickley, Agbaji, Davion Mitchell have reasonably good defensive reputations (or at least, had expectations of good defense from college). Jamal Shead was the college DPOY last year.

If you want LeVert and Niang gone, you best hope they continue to play like yesterday so their trade value rises lol. I would be down to package those two for a better wing if its available.
Also, Barnes is really f***ing good lol. Didn't show it last night tho

Re: Game 1: Cavs @ Raptors 10/23/2024
Meant to post after the game yesterday, but must have gotten overwhelmed with all the NBA games on lol
No clips (didn't see anything in game time worth clipping). Mobley looked like an all-star. Everywhere defensively and a major factor within the offense. Not even with just points and assists, but he was touching the ball on almost all of his possessions or at least being part of the action.
Garland looked not very good, some bad pass decisions, missed a few jumpers, and racked up fouls, but I am not officially worried yet lol.
Mitchell is still getting his offensive possessions to just create something. He looked like he picked up where he left off.
As you guys know, I love Wade as the 5th starter. He didn't really show anything different and his box score doesn't really show his impact.
And I know we blew out the Raptors, but it does look like Kenny is focusing on spreading out the minutes more and decreasing start minutes. I am curious if we will see Triston, CPJ, and Tyson in competitive minutes frequently or if this is where we should expect them to play barring injuries.
Tyson looked a little bewildered. Bobbled a dribble, threw a bad pass, was targeted on defense. Glad he was able to score his first NBA points tho.
