Rough first half on offense and only down eight at halftime. Hopefully the team can get it going in the second half.

Like the defensive intensity, offense is a different story. Still only down by 8 after all that not bad.

Harden has been pretty bad.

The offensive rebounds are keeping them in the game, which is a good sign, hustle and activity is something you can always do, but you can't always make shots as much as you try. So at least that's good.

Defensive intensity has been good, and could have cut it down to 5 if Batum made that open one.

The defensive intensity has Van Gundys prints all over it. But they need to do better than 22pt (high) quarters and 12 TO halves (already on their way to 20 TOs).

For once, I actually agree with Lue's "ten game" rule, so I don't want to make any sweeping statements quite yet, but this team does look like it'll be competitive.

Is it too late to have KPJ suspended?

first game of the season. Our payroll + tax bill is estimated to be just below $180M, good for #12 in the league. I think it's been a while since we hadn't been in the top 10 in this category.

In comparison, Suns payroll + tax bill is whopping $409M, while 2nd place Minnesota is $300M.

A much better watch then expected.

Stock Up: Intuit, JVG, DJJ, Coffey, Kai
Stock Down: KPJ, Zu's 1st half, hero-ball offense

Nice fight, 22 TOs. This is a constant with the TLue teams. I guess this is gonna be how they are this year, just good enough to make it a game, but too many mistakes to beat good teams. Maybe if Kawhi ever gets off the couch it may turn into wins. Anyways ended much better than it started. Go Clips.

I'm happy they fought back and that the effort was there, but they basically gave the game away with poor shot selection and bad passes. Refs didn't help either- lots of 50/50 calls went in the Suns favor

The good: DJJ, Coffey and Dunn; Harden's midrange, JVG's defense
The bad: Team's 3pt shooting, T-Mann's foul shooting(they weren't even close)
The ugly: Harden's TOs, KPJ

I was only able to watch OT but looking at numbers Zu and Harden bring their A game yet still couldn't get a W for our most hyped game of the season against an opponent that doesn't considered top 5 in the conference.

Long season indeed. Highly possible a lottery pick gifted to OKC.

this team will play hard but they are too centered around Harden and will probably start the season 0-3. Need to find a second creator. We will be lucky to finish around 500. i say 38 wins

Harden didn't bring anything near his A game tbh, minus the stats

Yup.

I'm going to cut Harden a little slack. I was hard on him last year, especially when we got him, and he turned out to be a good pickup (and, maybe, resigning). We're asking him to do different things than he's done for the past few years, so there's going to be some rust. I think he'll figure it out.

KPJ is rust related too. He has an NBA level game that hasn't been utilized in the NBA for 18 months. Not gonna back in a single game. Probably not in a single month, It is what it is.

DJJ looked great. Kai is a completely functional backup big that still has some ceiling. We haven't had that in a long, long time. Phoenix, at full strength, is still a very good team--they were at full strength last night. Don;t like the L, but saw some good things last night.

Long season indeed. Highly possible a lottery pick gifted to OKC.

Many are bullish on Phoenix this year due to their new coach and the addition of Tyus Jones who allows their scorers to focus on scoring rather than playmaking. Their offense was stupidly stagnant last year and highly reminiscent of ours during the 213 era; The additions should conceivably help with that.
