Lol reading through the Pistons game thread, sounds very familiar.JujitsuFlip wrote:jb's first game as DET head coach has a similar story. Blows a big lead late and runs his starters into the ground, good riddance.
- coach thinking challenges carry over
- team giving up wide open 3s
- team playing soft
Anyway, glad to see jb will never change.

JB will remain JB.
However, it does mean something for this Pistons squad to go toe-to-toe with the Pacers. Held them 5 points below last season's ORTG. JB will get these guys to play defense after being bottom three in DRTG.
I still think JB will be good for the first few years in Detroit to generate culture and identity. Its when they start competing for the playoffs where he's got big question marks.

He's got them playing hard on defense which is a big first step on a rebuilding team. The reality is that Ivey looks like a bust and Thompson was a head scratching pick. They've got Cade, T. Harris and no one else who is a reliable scorer. Hollins may get there, but the team has a ways to go from a talent perspective.

Jarret Allen isn’t winning you anything. Garland won’t show up in the playoffs. Mobley is a glorified dunk man. Mitchell has some experience but is a liability on defense. To me, the Cavs are a treadmill team.

That's why he was hired. He will emphasise defense and winning.jbk1234 wrote:JujitsuFlip wrote:jb's first game as DET head coach has a similar story. Blows a big lead late and runs his starters into the ground, good riddance.

I know it's early and this will probably jinx it but so awesome that jb is 0-4 and the Cavs are 4-0... Just sayin'

Kind of hard to be good when only 6 guys really get to see any substantial playing time.KazuoOda wrote:Man the Knicks are trash. They traded away their soul

There are levels to this. Thibs has guys playing 40+ minutes in November with a reasonably healthy roster.
The Knicks cut Marcus Morris from their preseason roster while JBB had him playing significant minutes in the playoffs, so the issue shouldn't be depth.

The Knicks cut Morris for money reasons and then he refused to return on an exhibit 10 deal.toooskies wrote:KazuoOda wrote:JujitsuFlip wrote:Kind of hard to be good when only 6 guys really get to see any substantial playing time.

Eh, they could be paying him right now instead of Matt Ryan.

Ryan most likely isn't on the team by his guaranteed date. I'm sure they cut him to sign Shamet, if his shoulder is healed by then. If not, maybe Warren.

They didn't pay Ryan out of camp, he was added to the roster last week.
Maybe Morris burned his bridge on the way out or simply doesn't want to be a Knick, but suffice it to say if they could play someone of his talent level if they wanted.

They didn't pay anyone out of camp, they went with 12 guys, their money is that tight. Which i didn't even know was legal.toooskies wrote:JujitsuFlip wrote:They could, Morris just refused loltoooskies wrote:Eh, they could be paying him right now instead of Matt Ryan.

The 2nd apron is $188,931,000 and their current cap total is $188,350,128. Let's not forget, if they exceed that figure they can't trade multiple players in a single deal, sign-and-trade their own players, or send cash in trades, they lose their MLE, also team's first-round draft pick seven years in the future is frozen and can't be traded. The pick can only be unfrozen if the team stays under the second apron for at least three of the next four years. If teams remain in the second apron for any three years in a five-year period, their upcoming first-round draft pick is automatically moved to the end of the first round. Last, Teams cannot use trade exceptions from any prior year.
Pretty dang important they don't exceed that amount.

Not disappointed in the Tyson pick (yet), but Filipowski is showing why I wanted him at #20.

Remember he supposedly dropped because of the girlfriend rumors. Although I'm not sure getting reeled in by an older woman disqualifies him from joining our boy scout band.

I am confident the Cavs will never bolster the 5 spot lol ever since Allen arrived, they just gave up trying to add anything of substance behind him off the bench. Just always washed up dudes.toooskies wrote:Not disappointed in the Tyson pick (yet), but Filipowski is showing why I wanted him at #20.

He probably dropped by us because he didn't come in for a workout. I think he may have been planning on falling to Utah.
