The Buddy Hield Show

Post#1 » by floppymoose » Mon Oct 21, 2024 9:59 am

Hield was a break-even player on the Indiana Pacers last year, which is actually not a bad thing for a reserve on a decent team. But I think he was widely regarded as not having a strong season. I had low expectations for his defense and rebounding.

But now that he is here I am pleasantly surprised. He competes harder than his reputation suggested. I think he is healthy and energized to be on this team.

I think brief stretches of greatness followed by long stretches of cats dying summarize the buddy hield experience to date... and I am not optimistic about that changing with us

Game 1 was an exciting glimpse at the upside.

Cautiously optimistic. We've seen Klay do the same thing - D ramps up when the shot is going down. I'd want to know what the floor is.. but if he keeps up the defensive intensity even when the offense isn't clicking, then we made a massive upgrade at SG

Curry teammates have the most open shots due to his gravity. Hield can really capitalize as 6th man

Buddy's effort level on defense is eye opening. He's at least giving effort on that end which is better than we've had before.

Also we can ride through any shooting slumps and he's going to get more open shots than he's ever had before.

Buddy is a good player and a good team mate! I think if the Pacers had not traded him they might have beaten the Celtics and been in the finals. After they traded Buddy Benn Mathurin went down with an injury and it hurt their depth. Losing his shooting really hurt Haliburton too.

He seems like the ultimate vibes guy. If the team is gelling and things are going well, he's a force multiplier. If things are getting tough, not sure I would count on Buddy to change that

He did great. He won't shoot like that everyday but we all know we were missing a scoring option off the bench so he kinda fit the Jordan Poole role.

Buddy's middle name is Rainer.

He was destined to be a splash brother.

Buddy is a revelation. The speed, energy, and effort that he plays with is impressive. He also doesn't just jack up shots and is passing the ball even when he's hot hot hot was really eye opening.

How other teams didn't know how to use him is mind boggling.

I don't foresee it staying consistent either to be honest, but I'm going to enjoy this flurry for now. Worst case when he starts a slump, we just need Kerr to manage and make the necessary minute changes.
