Maybe Wade can talk to the folks in the Jazz front office about bringing in Butler to compliment Lauri for a run.

This.

We were the ONLY team in the NBA last night that did not score 100.

Grizzlies started Zach Edey and played him 15 minutes. Why can’t we do the same thing with Ware? The organizational high horse stinks and it’s archaic the way we treat talented lottery type rookies.

But ok got my posts in, I honestly don’t give a fuxk which is why I couldn’t do anything but laugh watching that **** show and seeing our hierarchy. I had a feeling it was going to be more of the same post Rozier trade stuff we saw last year. Bam is our 4th option and we’ve neutered arguably our best player yet again. If he regresses this season in status he just needs to do what’s best for his career/legacy and ask for a trade, tired of watching him defer to lesser players for the sake of scheme

Things aren't going to change until Bam does ... and I've seen no evidence that he's ever going to change. Bam is the 4th option because he accepts that. He will defer to anyone, which is part of the reason we feel the need to have guys like Herro and Rozier. Our two best players are way too passive about scoring, so we have guys that are way too aggressive about scoring to compensate.

Until Bam makes clear that he wants the offensive load night in and night out, he's not going to get it. Coaches will not go out of their way to feed passive players. They are not going to run a bunch of plays night to night for guys that are fine putting up 10-15 shots.

Spo doesn't create this situation, Butler and Bam do.

Edey fouled out in < 15 minutes.

He’s not that go to scorer type of player and shame on the organization for putting him in this terrible spot. Having to endure what he’s had at the 4 spot during most of his tenure here has been organizational malpractice. He flourished under Crowder and Tucker and the answer was to go with Haywood Highsmith lol

He got experience and his team won. We had Bryant getting minutes in a blow out.

Bryant should never play. I' don't understand why we re-signed him. Ware should play because getting production from him and Jaime is our only realistic chance at improving this season. There's nothing that Bryant can do that will ever matter.

We are not getting anything of substance for Jimmy. Going to be a pennies on the dollar type of deal. We lost out on the sell high window. It will be by design too so the trading team doesn’t get stripped as they most likely look at a championship push. Butler to Golden State for Wiggins and salary fillers could still be possible.

I can't find it now, but Spoelstra said the same thing which Bam said in the quote below which is what Brady Hawk is talking about on the 5 reasons podcast he basically said then and after this 1st game why are your 2 best players having to figure out how they fit in the offense? It's a faster 3pt shooting offense and your 2 best players are power players who use the midrange which Butler took 0 shots at and Bam only took 3 of that were barely in the midrange.

What scares me about this fast-paced ball movement offense is that defenses can manipulate it, since the ball isn't in the top 2-3 player's hands most of the time, they can allow the ball to flow to the 4th or 5th option and let them try to score. Right now Jovic and Rozier are those guys and they'll be up and down since teams will encourage them to shoot (giving them space or playing their passing lanes) and while they're doing that, the rest of the team can fall out of the flow of the game by not getting their touches/shots. You need skilled shooters/scorers everywhere to make that offense successful if playing good and/or smart defensive teams.

My guess, Spoelstra's wanting Butler to do some cuts for scores, find mismatches near the basket while everyone's defender is stretched to the 3pt line and being a decent spacer but playing a "big" team it's not going to work well.

It's a faster, 3 pt shooting league. That's just the reality, we can't escape it. Doesn't matter how great we think these guys are in the midrange, you can't win trading 2s for 3s.

We didn't actually re-sign him, he had a player option and of course he accepted it. He's probably going to play his last season in the NBA but he's still getting minutes lol

That's a simplistic way of looking at it but it's reasonable high-level way of looking at it but scoring efficiency can be seen in the TS% for players with some level of volume scoring, Butler and Bam have been great/good for Miami in scoring efficiency while Herro and Rozier have been lower than average efficiency scorers which I think this faster offense will help so there is that. Butler is just an anomaly in scoring efficiency in this era.

I don't know about you, but I think Herro could have been shooting more 3s all these years vs attacking the midrange, he's a great 3pt shooter who went away from his strengths, I also think Bam and Butler look comfortable enough to take 3s when open to help the spacing and Bam looks ready to look for his own 3s outside of catch and shooting. I'm not so sure Spoelstra needed to go all in, I think the players could have been playing more efficient for a few years at this point.

I will say, this could be the start of a long-term change in the offense for Miami preparing for Butler no longer being on the roster and building towards something different in the next 2-5 years.

Just days after bypassing the $2.8 million player option in his contract with the Heat to become an unrestricted free agent, league sources confirmed to the Miami Herald on Wednesday that Bryant has agreed to return to the Heat on a one-year veteran minimum contract worth about the same amount of $2.8 million.

Miami resigned him officially, but it was an opt out (wink) to be resigned to save some space under the 2nd apron.

If Bryant would have exercised his player option, his salary would have counted as $2.8 million against the salary cap, luxury tax and aprons.

But because Bryant became a free agent and then returned to the Heat on a new one-year minimum contract, NBA rules shrink his cap hit for this upcoming season to just $2.1 million despite still having an actual salary of $2.8 million.

Spo needs to play ware 7-10 minutes a night. I get maybe they don't want his confidence killed early if he gets abused by some guys, but that's also how he gets tape on film early to know what works or what he can do differently in those situations.

Perhaps, but my focus is now since we cant change the past. I also have to reiterate I'm not down on the team, at least not yet. It was one bad game, and probably won't be the last one of an 82 game season.

Return to Miami Heat
