Clippers Grant PJ Tucker Permission To Seek Trade

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri Oct 25, 2024 2:45 am

The Los Angeles Clippers have granted permission to PJ Tucker's agent, Andre Buck, to speak with rival teams about a potential trade, sources tell Chris Haynes. Tucker remains away from the Clippers as the two sides seek a resolution to his situation.

Tucker, who was largely out of the Clippers lineup following a trade from the Sixers, exercised his $11.5 million player option with the team this past offseason.

According to Kelly Iko and Law Murray of The Athletic, the Philadelphia 76ers, Miami Heat, Milwaukee Bucks and Phoenix Suns are among the teams who have held conversations with Buck. Tucker has previously played for each of those four teams.

The only reason I would trade for PJ Tucker is if I was getting rid of a longer contract that I did not want. I would not trade for PJ Tucker the player.

PJ may want to play, but I don't think anybody is playing him. He is only in the league because he signed a horrible contract that is still not over yet.

If you don't like it, don't pick up the player option and you had the choice to pick a team. You already made $78 million in your career and don't need the money. You picked up the player option, so you should show up for work and earn yourself rotation minutes.

What is wrong with you? you expect him to turn down his highest yearly salary: $11,539,000? considering his age, he will never make that money back if he gave it up. Who does that?

For me its if you picked up your option, you show up and play\mentor to earn your money. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

I don't mind if he picks up the option. I think he should play and fight for a rotation spot instead of sitting at home requesting a trade. My point is that if you pick up your option for the money, then you have to earn it.

PJ averaged less than 4/4/1 and had a negative eDiff his last season in PHI. They don't have a single PF on their roster and they still probably don't want PJ.

Besides, KJ leaves you $4 short and can't be traded for another two months.

He should definitely the money and pick up his option, but he should also show up to his job and put in the work. Both things can be true.

Is this dude ever happy where he is? I can't remember such a nothing player acting like he's a hot commodity or something.

He's got "old and washed up" red flags and has always been undersized for the role he plays, the trade interest in him will be paltry unless injuries make some team desperate.

So the Clippers certainly want to trade him but can't find any possible avenues. So they tell his agent he can try to find anything he can? They're not giving up any assets to dump his salary better figure out a buyout number if he wants to play anywhere

The ideal situation is supposed to be with James Harden so ehh

The trade doesn’t have to be immediate but I know for certain the 76ers are interested in PJ and it stems back to when they signed Paul George.

They may be interested in in him on a minimum after he's bought out... but at $11.5m plus tax?
