Sure. I also see some KCP. KCP was once all offensive potential, fizzled, then restarted his career with defense. Looks like GTJ is on track to do that too. They're a little different style defensively, but pretty similar overall.

Who in the hell would take over the scoring for bobby AJ johnson lmfao

You & others overrate him now cuz of regular season pppgzzz. His 1st 2 seasons here he had +/- of 7.5 & 4.8. Last 2 yrs it's .1 & -.4. He's gotten worse as a rebounder & perimeter defender. He's a liability in interior d. And he's a playoff dropper.

To wit, you also have a skewed perspective on value of players on other teams. I don't consider Eason & Pippen Jr. (who creates), or whatever package it'd be, a poo-poo plater. Bobby had a worse rep before he came here on 3.7m/yr, while I was a fan of him.

We're calling Bobby s playoff dropper after a series where he averaged 19 ppg and 13 rpg in his 5 full games, with a team best +/- ?

I'm not sure that's accurate, and in also encouraged that he's quickened his 3, which should help immensely come playoff time.

Using +/- as a metric for player value is hilarious in today’s age.

Single game, sure, but over a series? Yeah, it works.

I bet these “discussions” are all about finding the right team(s) to facilitate a MarJon trade to open up a roster spot. I think the Doc connection from Philly and the obvious tie to the championship team might lead him here.

Who knows though? Some team has to be enticed to buy that contract out. There’s no way the Bucks or other contenders are trading anything of significant value to land PJ.

there's no way PJ would be happy with the role he'd have on this team

PJ will be 40 years old when the playoffs come around, I don't see any way he gives you any good playoff minutes. Plenty of other guys to take a flyer on instead.

The "source" is PJ's agent, and the "conversations" end with 'please stop calling me.'

Nobody's trading for that contract without an asset attached and I don't think the Clippers have much incentive to fork over a 2030 1st round pick with how rough their immediate future looks. This is just the PR spin before the inevitable buyout.

PJ is tsunami washed, if they give us a first or something sure but he’s not worth anything on court anymore and we don’t need a malcontent (which is what he’d be if he doesn’t get playing time).

1. Could we trade MarJon for PJ straight up?

2. Am I the only one that thinks PJ could give us some intense defense on Brown/Tatum for at least a 5 minute stretch or two in the playoffs?

Why? Bucks had the best Indiana defense in the playoffs when Brook was off the court, and that's despite Beasley playing heavy minutes, and maybe playing huge minutes.

Brook was also cooked from 3 by Boston and Brooklyn. Miami ran tons of DHOs to get uncontested 3s.

1 takeaway from Indy was hiding KM on a 4 on D could be a way (power) forward for him if he'll use his leverage like he did vs Siakim to make him take tough shots

Never a need to hide Mids on D, they always give him a priority assignment. Bucks weren't going to waste Mids talents on Nesmith.

Jimmy Buckets has questions then.

We all know that the Bucks desperately need to get older and slower.

The Bucks shouldn't go in the extreme opposite direction back to washed players well into their 30's (to almost 40 in this case) simply because they struggle to evaluate unproven players from their teens to early 20's.

Trent, at 25, is the best of the new additions. Prince is 30. We've already seen the decline of Wright, at 32. Guys at that level don't have enough ability to lose much.

We should be holding out for mid 20's players, to around 30, who can move a bit. That should be the lesson. If Tucker's the best option now, I'd rather just leave Marjon's spot open after he's waived, or keep him into the season as a tradeable contract.

Over two series in which Giannis played three total games? Judging any Bucks on +/- for that doesn’t work. Of course Bobby would have a lower number the last two (lost in one round due to Giannis being out) versus the prior two (won title and went to seven in ECSF). The same would apply to most on the team.

It's hilarious to not use it. That's what net rating is. And how much you make a team better or worse determines your value. In smaller samples you can cheat it, but over time it tells the story.

Over 2 seasons, for the Bucks to be neutral when Bobby's on court, while the Bucks were contenders, is pretty damning. That's not just being on a bad bench. He posted a lot of negatives over sizable samples w/ Giannis & Dame.

PJ wouldn't have a major role here. so if hes comfortable with that, i say bring him in. I watched him play very solid defense on Giannis beginning of last season. I dont think hes washed. I think he would help us recapture some of that championship, dog mentality.
