Scott Carefoot has passed away

Post#1 » by raps95 » Fri Oct 25, 2024 4:34 pm

Not sure how many people remember him but he was a significant force back in the earlier days of raptors blogging. I’m too old to remember concrete details but I remember always liking his stuff. I believe he gave some raptors bloggers (Holly Mackenzie for certain) their starts.

Only 49. Sheesh.

Damn, sad news. My basketball forum days started on RaptorBlog -- always had positive interactions with the guy.

Regularly on here from what I remember. From the start of the Raptors blogging era. He seemed nice and would boost any newcomers reporting on the Raptors. Think I remember him boosting Holly Mack a lot on here.

Damn. A name I hadn't thought of in a long time but have not forgotten. He was really supportive of the community and he used to boost Holly here a lot when she started out.

49 is young. I hope he lived a content life.

What no way! He used to post here quite often and was one of the pillars of Raptors blogging back in the day. Loved his work and I still remember when he decided to call it quits on blogging about the Raptors.

RIP Scott.

I will always remember his kindness when I was a new poster and made ridiculous suggestions like trading for Ha Seung-jin to be the future of the Raptors at the five.

Always encouraging and always respectful in the debate.

He will be missed

Memories fading quickly, but back in the days raptorblog, doug’s two cents and Rhett’s daily papers meant all the insights and fueled the days. Scott, you’ll be missed.

Wow, I met Scott several times ~15 years ago. Nice enough guy. He had some challenges in his life, but nothing that would have led to this.

RIP.

It would be nice if it wasn't cancer this time, too many dying of that lately.

RIP. During my University days he was a great read (before I found Realgm) and introduced me to the idea I could spend many hours discussing the Raptors instead of studying.

The Wayback machine has lots of screenshots of his work. just randomly sampling one I found this gem:

RIP.

Reminded me of the early days here when it was a bit more authentic with the voices of core fans mixed in within some very raw writers and artists trying to carveout a niche were at the top of the discussions. Rather than US industry plants pumped thru social media controlling the top of the discussion, as is today.

The raw and more authentic days were what made this place and much more interesting to me. Not the news you ever want to hear to make you reflect.

He was always up for a good Raptor discussion back in the day.

Prayers to his family. Far too young.

RIP. Mostly did not agree with his takes, but he often provided an interesting alternative POV worth of dissection and discussion. Another one gone too young. All the best to family and friends.
