RS has been stagnant or declining.
Finals have been declining for the last 3 years.

Technically the finals have been declining 8-10ish years but they bumped up once or twice, but overall ratings are on a downward trend. Some of that no doubt has to do with cable cutting, but that's not the entire story, otherwise you would not have seen years where it increased and then dipped back down, it would be a steady decline.

People aren't watching as much as they used to, anecdotally, I don't watch as much any more because of the style of game and the general product has gone to ****. Too many betting ads, too many stoppages in play, just overall a worse product. Last nights game had 99 **** free throws. This is the 11th time since 2010 there has been a game with 90+ FTs, with last nights game being the 3rd highest since 2010.

The product has gotten worse, regardless of whether or not you like the 3's, overall the game has gotten choppier and less fun to watch.

The season should be shorter. 82 games is way too long. People get burned out on the NBA, especially with all the other sports that are going on at this time. European soccer seasons are just 38 games. The NFL season is just 17 games. All of those leagues print money. A team doesn't need to play 3-4 games a week. Give fans a break between games.

IMO, the ideal season length is 58 games (1 home and 1 away game against every team). Each team plays 2-3 games a week.

58 is never happening but 72 would be good. Start the season a month later because the fall is so crowded anyway. Eliminate back to backs would help the level of play a lot too.
There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.

Yeah I think anywhere between 60-65 is prime, 82 games makes a decent chunk of them pretty meaningless. If teams can justify sitting stars multiple times a season, you have too many games.
