Jett is not a microwave scorer though he is basically a spot up or set shooter. He really doesn’t create.

I feel like people are blowing up what he did in the last few against 3rd string players. He really didn’t do much in 2nd qt while playing the 2nd string.

He does create, he did it in the summer league, yeah the competition was lower but he's only gonna get better, plus Cole is only getting worse.

If you watch his summer league games, there wasn't much creation there either. He was a shooter mostly.

Suggs and KCP did a good job defensively on Ja and Bane. They were held to 29 pts of their team’s 124 pts.

Aldama, Huff, and Edey were a combined 19 for 25 from the field. Disgusting.

This was an off game on a back to back to a likely 50 win team. On to the next.

You need to go watch summer league again, he was the secondary creator next to AB. Several posters openly questioned if he was the superior playmaker to AB, mostly because he's such a threat to score from anywhere.

I suspect that like AB he'll be kept to a very limited role as a spot up shooter this season, but next season more opportunity might open up for him on ball. Even then, he'd likely still be secondary playmaker to AB, or whoever is backup PG then.

Franz 3 ball is back. That may have been the biggest or second biggest question of the offseason.

PG the only bigger question. Black has answered the bell for the second unit.

Need JI to get back.

Cole may need a change of scenery. Cole probably gets 10 more games.

And Black just looks so good out there. His defensive potential was always visible, but his offensive potential just seems like it came out of nowhere. Dude is splitting defenders, making good passes, and finishing strong at rim. Just massive improvement.

I really like KCP. His defense is extremely legit. Three point shooting is volatile.

But KCP's 3s are off. :nonono:

0-4 from 3s tonight.

At least, we have increased 3pt volume. That is one of the Stats I look at after the game. Plus Free Throws.

Also another bright spot of the season is Jalen Suggs has been doing very well.

I am OK with that we lost. But not how we lost. I really do not like it.

I want the team to Win and want to win. And they came out just flat.

The offense that he’s showing is what he did in high school. This is what I was excited for when we drafted him. The confidence, and skill no doubt, are growing to show it in real games. Awesome to see.

I’m hoping we continue to give Black a ton of minutes. Continue to let him get experience.

The team reverted back to grind it out Paolo crying for a foul iso ball like last year in the 1st half. That style of offense isn't going to work anymore if this team wants to be successful. 2nd half they were much more disciplined setting up the offense and ball movement with purpose. That's why we had that huge 3rd quarter run. They seen it work in the Miami game so they know what it takes. I'm hoping it was just one of those bad habits that can be cleaned up quickly. We'll see going forward now.

Weaksauce excuse with Memphis being on a b2b too.
Memphis isn't going to lose very many games at home this season.

This was Memphis home opener and this was our 3rd game in 4 nights. Not something to get too worked up over. Too many overreactions. Franz continues strong 3pt shooting. Thats the best thing that could’ve happen to start the season.

This was Memphis’ 3rd game in 4 nights too. It’s not the loss. It’s the spanking.

But you’re right. There are some positives so far:

Franz’ 3pt shot is looking great
Black is showing a good amount of improvement on offense
Suggs’ 3pt shot is looking legit and not just a 1 hit wonder

Did KCP just get hit with the Magic curse of shooters losing their touch in a MAgic uniform?

When season started i had my concerns about Memphis offense as they lack spacing, but oh boy Taylor Jenkins pulled some tricks.

The way they executed inverted pick&rolls, some backdoor cuts for Ja or off Ja, Aldama being trigger man in give and goes, wow, impressive.

As for game itself, at one point, in 3rd, Grizzlies were up by 28 and kind a stopped playing. But never really lost control, even during Magic run. Last 6 min were pretty much garbage time, Jackson nor Morant never even returned to play.

And man, Jay Huff reverse facial dunk is up there with GIannis poster as best dunk of early season. My jaws dropped.

AB looks good and Jett looks like he has potential to really contribute.... Weltman been cooking with the draft picks, wonder what's the plan with da silva? G-League to get reps?

Cole’s TS% is 28.8%. Splits are 23/13/50 through the first 3 games. Rough.
