But I think that there's a cost to getting off Vuc's deal and that that value does then come out even.
Many would prefer the pick route - i'd like to see the Bulls balance their roster with people around the same age.
Rui fits the young core from an age perspective and from a position perspective.
The core of the trade in my mind is Coby for Rui - I tried to balance that value by including an expiring DLo and young Hayes for Vuc
I think Lakers adding a 1st is too much
Also for the Bulls - there's a lot of guards. A lot of Bulls fans look at that and say "Trade LaVine" which has proven to not be easy. Some think he can play himself into having a trade market, but I don't think so. Everyone knows who Zach the player is. There issue seems to primarily be Zach the contract - which isn't changing (well I guess it will change in length as time goes on).
I like Coby, but if the Bulls want better balance of their lineups, and want to get value in return - the best option right now is Coby.
Not looking to move Rui in this deal
No need for Vuc
There are 2 non Lavine deals between LAL and Chi that make sense:
Vando and Vincent for Lonzo. We add some 2nds?
Why for LAL: Get a defensive minded guard to pair next to AR or Reaves. Big risk with injuries, but nice upside. Vando is also an injry risk with upside though and now I am unsure who guards wings for us
Why for Chi: Get some 2nds on an expiring Lonzo and take a gamble on Vando
Other trade is Dlo, Vincent, and JHS (liekly a 3 teamer) + 29 1st. Any more needed? for Lonzo and White
Why for LAL: 1st reason+ a scoring guard off the bench. But the question is, how good is White? Is he even better than Dlo, same level, or a bit worse? He had 1 playoff series a few years back and wasnt great
Why for CHI: Get a 1st and other assets (JHS) or something from a 3rd team.

As much as I like Lonzo as a player there is 0 reason for the Lakers or any team to consider trading for him until he's shown he can be healthy for a good stretch of time

Generally curious, I dont watch him a lot
Yes, on both ends of the court.
I see Dlo rated out higher on EPM last year than White
White better on defense, but Dlo rated out better on offense
But Whites role got bigger later on and seemed to shine
The question is what is he worth and would Chi move him?
Yeah Coby's role has been expanding a lot over the past two seasons and he just keeps rising to the challenge. Before then I wasn't really a fan, but he's really won me over. First as a dynamite 6th man I dreamed we could steal to replace Quickley, and last season as a starting PG who I'm confident could be a top 3 option on a contender.
If Orlando snagged him, they'd scare this Knicks fan just as much as Boston.

With those off the table, what might pique their interest? Honest question, I'm just not that familiar with numerous players on the Spurs.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Draft capital i assume. Bulls wouldn’t really need keldon or a center.

Those deals even worse for the bulls
Well we shouldnt be moving Rui and Dlo for White
Need to be moving picks
What is the right deal?
Hard to find a match that both teams like really.
reddish and seconds for Torrey Craig to easy deal.
Gabe Vincent and pick swaps for Coby
Gabe and vandy and swap for vuc and Craig.

Exactly. Coby only goes for a top 20 1st in this draft.

Re: Chi & LAL: White, Vuc, Craig for Russell, Rui, Hayes
Hang on to Coby...Hayes is just awful and Hachimura doesn't do enough to make this worthwhile, imo. Even if CHI is somewhat overloaded in the backcourt, don't give away your best young player for marginal upgrades and financial relief at C...Hayes is awful if I didn't already point that out. Coby can, at the very least, get CHI a much better C, even if Vuc hangs around. Hayes & Rui don't really do anything significant (enough) for CHI.
At least make sure Giddey is going to be great before you give away a presently better player that might give CHI a bit more leverage re: Giddey's' salary demands next summer. Honestly, I think they can play together.

Considering White's improvement last year, it doesn't make sense to pull a deal like this just to get off a bad contract. Next year Vuc is an expiring contract, it makes no sense to dump a young player with potentially more upside to move off a contract that isn't as bad as people make it out to be.

Probably Sochan or Keldon plus a lightly protected pick (Bulls own '25 returned?) and perhaps another bad first or a bunch of secons. If Bulls would like to swap Zach Collins for Vucevic for some cap relief, that could happen as well. That's similar to the package the Hawks got for Dejounte, and I don't think Coby White should command more than that given his contract situation (underpaid to the point it'd be hard to extend him on that deal). That's about as far as I'd go, Sochan is more than 5 years younger than Rui and has much more untapped potential, if Bulls want to rebuild maybe guaranteeing they keep the pick plus an interesting young player and some other minor assets could be a good starting point. If not I wouldn't go beyond that, but maybe someone else could.

I like this for both teams. From a Lakers POV, I keep saying if only Vando were a guard. Sure, he is an elite point-of-attack defender, but it would be kind of clunky to put him at shooting guard. He is best as a 4 or 5. From a Bulls POV, apparently, the Bulls could use some help at the 4. Vando is an excellent rebounder and defender. Way more of a 4 than Williams. Lakers already have two other 4s. The trade seems to help both teams.nzahir wrote:drosestruts wrote:I do agree with others that coby is the best player in the deal
