KCP is a journeyman role player that benefited from being paired with Jokic and Murray. Nothing more. Nothing less.
This fan base is so starved of player validation, wanting to come here, that they acted liked they were getting an allstar that was going to change the system.
Maybe KCP will change my mind throughout the season, but it’s looking like a pretty validated assessment of his game.
I was underwhelmed by the signing but his defensive talent and shooting ability is undeniable after watching him play. I've flipped from "meh" to "Horace Grant effect".
We all love his defense. However, defense was never the issue this offseason.
It was playmaking and on ball shot creation on the perimeter. If you are down 20 points in a game you are getting nothing from him offensively unless someone else is making a play on the ball be it Suggs, AB, Franz, or Paolo.
There really isn’t an argument to be made that AB should be sitting the bench behind KCP if he ISNT hitting shots. AB is functional as a defender AND can playmake etc. there is more to his game before going down the rabbit hole of the developmental aspect.
This was my criticism is signing him whatsoever. You are moving Suggs for the sake of it and in a pickle if AB rises beyond expectations early. Then you have Cole, Jett, and Gary still to appease on some level.
