Re: Contract Situation with Jakob Poeltl
The young players would not be developing this way without Yak. You think all these rookies would be developing at the same rate without the space he creates on the floor? The way he erased their mistakes through defensive help? The level of BBIQ that he passed on to them? Level of maturity? He's the perfect piece to facilitate their growth.

I have no strong feelings one way or the other.
Move him if it makes sense and there's a substantial offer for his services on the table.

There is barely a market for a big men with his limited skillset. Keep him. We need experienced players, and can't afford just to have young guys on the roster and wait till everyone has reached his potential. Keep him for the long run and use him in a Mitch Robinson role.

I would want an unprotected first in 2025 or 2026.
New Orleans?

GS just got abused by Ivica Zubac to the tune of 23 pts, 18 rebs and 6 ast.
Wiggins and TJD for Poeltl and Davion

Re: Contract Situation with Jakob Poeltl
The FO should field offers for Poeltl to gauge his market value. They may already be doing it.
If you can get a good 2025/2026 FRP for him you got to do it. More future assets and it increases the value of our pick this year.
One thing we have to ask ourselves is how much are we willing to re-sign Jak when IQ/RJ/Barnes are making ~100M. His next contract may be 25M+.

I would definitely play chicken with him on his next contract. I don’t think he can get $25m+. He’s paid fairly now and he makes about 14% of the cap. His next deal (if he opts out and re-signs) will be for his age 31+ seasons. At 14% he’d make $24m in 2026 if he signs the same deal relative to the cap. Given his level of play and his age I wouldn’t give him a raise. WCJ got 3/59 and Claxton got 4/97 declining. The luxury tax is expected to be around $206m in 2026/27 so having Barnes/IQ/Barrett/Poeltl taking up $125 isn’t that much of an issue.
I would probably try to get Poeltl on a decent discount to protect from age related decline and if he didn’t take it I’d move him. I would need to have him on a real value deal to keep him around.

Remilio.
Boy oh boy, I've never heard this before.
Frankly it's the first time I hear it from M. Ujiri.

i say keep him, he'll continue to disappoint Shakril with his declining plays.

Where was Masai quoted to have said this about Jak? That sounds like something no GM would ever say lol

Props TZ!
