Sweet breakdown. You can see while there was significant improvement in their defensive switching and not overrealying on drop coverage , that STILL things were not nearly perfect in their execution of their play. Yet just being ok not great in their execution still led to a 25 point blowout of the Pacers. This team still has significant room to play even better. That's actually a scary thing if they start going from ok execution to good or even excellent over the next 20-25 games.

Brunson is Brunson, I think he will always be top dog.

However I could definitely see where on some nights when Bridges is on he might be 2A and KAT 2B.

If it was Divo having to guard Garland while Hart out I'd be unsure of how that would work but if it's Deuce on him then Garland will be stymied, Mitchell slowed some by MB, OG making life tough for skinny Mobley and Allen gassed from chasing down KAT 3s from the perimeter when he's not getting bullied in the post by him.

Just Brunson on Wade is the only thing to be watching for. Something tells me Hart still finds a way to play which still leaves Brunson on Wade. Of course, Payne is pesky enough to guard either Garland or Mitchell so he may not shut either of them down but he'd make them work really hard for whatever they do get.

Does Thibs trust Paco enough yet to give him significant burn? Is Deuce fully healthy himself after the lower leg scare whatever it was, I didn't get any clarity on what exactly it was. Still think Hart is suiting up and have a hard time seeing him not sneak onto the court when Thibs aint looking.

If Hart really will be out I almost rather start Paco and let him guard Wade and spread the floor with shooting everywhere. He'll drop 15 in his first start hitting 3-4 3s and let Brunson handle Garland, it won't be too bad. Then let Deuce stay in his role off the bench with Payne instead of weaken the 2nd unit scoring.

I don't know if Thibs would be willing to let TyKo be backup PG next to Payne if Deuce starts. If Hart is out and Deuce is hobbled for this game Thibs might be forced to play the young guys more than he might have otherwise. This will be interesting to see if those two aren't a full go.

Let's get Allen in early foul trouble trying to defend KAT

Brunson needs to get him involved early

They didn't drop KAT nearly as much last game. Thibs is learning how to best utilize him relative to the other 4 players on the floor with him. KAT is learning a new system. You can see defensively he was significantly better just 1 game later. It will continue to evolve but if the Finch defense was an indicator KAT is better at hedging and blitzing, but we will see as they continue to build chemistry.

On offense he seems to be attacking more and everyone on offense seems to get opportunities to roll and attack the basket downhill. I like that a lot, it basically makes every single starter kind of a dual threat (except maybe Hart). But even Hart has had years where he was capable from 3.

It was Willis Reed who traded Clyde, it caused a rift between them that was healed later. Clyde came back with the Cavs to the Garden and had a big game, with huge ovations, early the first season. But sadly Clyde began to get stress fractures in his foot, same as Doug Collins and Andrew Toney later, and he was never the same.

Jerry West was coach of the Lakers then, 77 I think, and he wanted Jack Kent Cooke to bring in Clyde. Instead they acquired Ernie Degregorio from Buffalo, who West used to call Ernie No D when he played against him. West was so angry that he didn't go to the press conference that introduced Ernie D to the LA media.

I always wondered if playing with prime Kareem would have revitalized and extended Walt's career. He might have hung on and played with rookie Magic in the 1980 season.
There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.

Coaching change is likely an upgrade for them. I dont like that we don't have either Achiuwa or Mitch for this game but it is what it is.

Will be a good test to play a team with a bit of a different dynamic and see how they do defensively.

Yeah, and it should be interesting to see how KAT handles their front court. Im hoping he is able to dominate them.

Big Bodega was playing a pretty good Center in Turner. He blocked once or 2x and went hard to the basket on him a couple times. Between Thibs and the best big man coach in the game I think we are going to see a pretty nice player here. Its still early though in the acclimating process though here. Sometimes these things can together fairly quickly sometimes it takes 20-25 games.

I have to agree with Melo now that he’s sane again. Their length pose a threat to us since Hart is banged up and Towns going to have to battle.m
We can take advantage on the other end if we go small. Knowing Thibs history he’s going to start Sims.

Josh Hart is listed as questionable tonight with a right ankle injury. Seemed like he was actually grabbing at his hammy in the first quarter. Not sure when the ankle injury occurred. Deuce could get the start which should be interesting.

Deuce getting the start would be super interesting. I think he was averaging like 18+pts a game when he gets 30 minutes late last year.

2 games in he looks even better this season in his player development.

He could be the best pure 3 pt shooter on the team with Divo gone.
