As for the person who mentioned Terry Porter, 95% of the players on the 09 Suns would probably agree with that. A bunch of players HATED Porter even though he's a good person from all accounts. He just never clicked with the players.

His basic drills and old school mentality went over very badly with the Suns players.

Earl Watson could also be a candidate for the list.

To me, Earl Watson, like McD is just a symptom of the greater disease that was Sarver. For that stretch between 2009 to 2020, we had 7 coaches, 4 of them were rookie head coaches, only one had more than 3 seasons of head coaching experience (Gentry) and essentially they were all hired because they were cheap. It wasn't until 2020 when Sarver actually forked out good money for a coveted head coach in Monty.

Watson was a terrible head coach and I don't know if the Chriss's, Bender's, Jackson's may have been better if we had someone who knew how to actually coach but those 3 guys paired with someone who just couldn't coach at all really exacerbated the issues. It all comes back to Sarver allowing this incompetence around the team.

I do think he was probably way over his head so his mistake was probably putting his name forward for the role but the fact he was given 3 chances to be head coach (took over from Hornacek, made full head coach, allowed to be head coach for 2017-2018) just speaks to the dysfunction at the top. Sarver should probably take the first 5 spots in a top 10 list lol and that's still getting off easy

That's an easy one for me. He was suppose to oversee the post-Nash era Suns and he had the picks and the low expectations (from a winning perspective) to really do what he needed to do. Instead he drafted bust after bust with our high lotto picks. Absolute waste of prime opportunity.

DA is my choice. Most infuriating Suns player ever. The Morris were douche bags but played hard every night. All-talk Ayton only showed up half the time. So many dumb moments from his substance ban to the stupid nicknames he made for himself

I probably hate Horry the most, then the Morris twins. If Brandon Knight was on there, he would win most infuriating ever. DA was frustrating, but better than I expected mostly, particularly in years 2 and 3 when he played a key part in getting us to the finals. I am more frustrated with McD about the DA stuff (if you want to blame Sarver for that fine), but it wasn't his fault we took him. He didn't play hard all the time, but that was the case coming out of college. He was unlikely to change. What was extremely frustrating was taking him over Luka who many of us knew would be great killing the euroleague at 17. We certainly had many worse busts as high picks. That was just a horrible pick given you had a generational player.

Players like JJ, Bender and Chriss were more frustrating. Those are all least players many of us wanted. JJ not showing up for team events where JJ had to stand in for him. Talk about Ayton being passive....nothing like Bender. And Chriss had the talent but was very frustrating. That whole era was frustrating. I think many thought Josh Jackson was the best player in that draft and he was terrible and didn't take being a Sun seriously whatsoever.

Crowder was a real bitch when he just decided not to play. That was probably the worst move. I didn't really hate him before that.

But since we have odd choices, it would have to be Morris twins or Horry.

Ayton should take #3 though, since this thread was created specifically for him...and we just played him last night and it was a good reminder of why he is so frustrating.

It's the same with me. Quitting on the team, when we were contenders was unforgiveable. So he got my vote. I liked him very much before, after that I hate him!

FYI ... I didn't created it for Ayton. I was watching the game threads and noticed how much hate Nurk was getting. I thought why not create a most hated poll. I remember people complaining about PJ Tucker hurting the tank. All summer long JJ getting grief over free agent and draft choices or lack there of. I can't help it if Ayton is disliked.

A simple comparison of Ryan Dunn to DA. Dunn is high IQ player lacking shooting skills. DA is a highly athletic freak but lacks sufficient brain cells to figure out the significantly more complex NBA game. Dunn can fix his shooting by putting up shots, Ayton can't fix his low BB IQ. Ayton's fault ... no, its the guy who drafted him. Still he was the most infuriating player I've had to watch in 50+ years of Suns fandom.

Having Ayton as the third hated Sun all time is odd. Yes, he has his moments but he shouldn't even be close to top 5 most hated sun of all time. Seems like people have a certain agenda towards him it seems.
