For every game I've played that they have a wiki for, I find them to be not maintained/updated, sometimes straight-up wrong, and they just drive you there with all of their cross-linking, ads, and twitch pop-ups for revenue. They don't care to maintain any of it because they're getting exactly what they want anyways. I also think their builds are often carelessly thrown together and not actually played/validated.

I think they're actually banned from some gaming subreddits :lol:

Oh yea, I made the mistake of mentioning them on a Dark Souls reddit once and hooooooo boy :o

Yeah just avoid that site. They bot views by embedding twitch/youtube streams/videos on their site.

Eh, I guess none of that really bothers me. I don't watch Twitch streams and I've just ignored their little video embedding since I started using the site.

Sometimes I just want to know which Nioh 2 or Wo Long boss drops the gear I need and where they're found. Or info on gear sets or something. Fextralife is fine for simple, quick info.

If I want a guide or walkthrough I know to go to Youtube instead.

Also RS you might want to check out Romancing Saga 2. I think it might be something you dig.

DA Origins was a generational game, but the rest have been bad/underwhelming. Inquisition if I really try is okay. I also have zero hope for Veilguard. I'll be pleasantly surprised if the feedback is actually good from the playerbase.

I think Bioware really created a problem for themselves to have to contend with, and decide if they want to solve, by making every single **** game in the series play vastly differently from the others. I have stuck around because the world, lore, and story have gripped me, but I totally get (to the point of potentially not buying and playing Veilguard) any and all concerns folks have with the gameplay, combat, and art direction. I think they've set themselves up for inevitable failure.

I'm disappointed it's not more RPG, and with more refined (to my taste) combat. But if the story and world building are good, and it's sounding like they just may be, I'll have a hard time passing.

That said, I almost forgot POE2 beta is in like 2 weeks so I'll probably hold off. Or at least that's what I'm telling myself.

I also enjoy the **** out of the world/lore of Dragon Age, unfortunately I feel like the writing has fallen off a cliff since Origins. Just looking at the timeline of Bioware.

2007 -> ME1
2009 -> DA:Origins
2010 -> ME2 (last great bioware game)
2011 -> DA:II (beginning of the decline)

This pretty much works out in my head. ME1/Origins/ME2 are all great entries with Origins and ME2 being two of my favorite games ever and probably the peak of writing/lore building in Bioware history (KOTOR was also great). I will say though after playing the Legendary Edition, ME3 is peak.

I downloaded PES 2021 and the Football Life 2025 mod (and some stadium mods, updated faces, etc.) and I am so damn happy. I've struggled so much trying to enjoy FIFA ever since I played PES 2020 for the first time and now I finally have essentially an upgraded version of that. It's so freaking awesome.

Also getting back into The Finals again, which feels so fresh compared to most of the FPS games I play. The setting they've created for that game is really cool IMO. I see the same company is now working on an extraction-shooter to try to compete with Tarkov (but seems to be a more futuristic apocalyptic type of setting, almost Helldivers-esq).

WOOF. Scathing review. Their preview comments were very negative also which kind of counterpoints the fextralife point.

Yeah this review really swayed me back again. The writing seems horrid. I'm planning to wait to hear what long-time DA fans think of it once they have their hands on it, and maybe pick it up on sale sometime when I'm in a lull and it's only $20. No reason to set down Metaphor (or C:S2 which has been fun to pick back up).

Makes me sad, but I've been prepared for this for, like, almost a decade.

FWIW (I know, I know), IGN said the new Dragon Age is excellent and compared it to the Mass Effect series and said it will be very difficult for Mass Effect to top.

I never played the first two DA games. Started with Inquisition. I liked it fine but didn't think it was all that memorable. What I remember most was The Witcher 3 came a few months later and made Inquisition seem irrelevant.

So I didn't have high hopes or expectations for this one, but I did expect a base level of competency and writing given the wealth of amazing RPGs to crib from and a massive budget. But man, watching that video and seeing that dialogue...F*ckin' yikes.

Gaming is in such a weird place. Never been bigger, and I also can't recall it struggling more. But also this Concord game always looked like a **** disaster so I'm not sure who greenlit it.

'I think people also don't realize there's only so much time in the day for [a live service game]...You can't play a bunch of these games at once. All of these companies - and Sony specifically invests to much to get one of these hits - they're chasing something that's dissipating.'

This is so true. **** if I have time to put thousands or even hundreds of hours into a game that isn't POE. The market isn't ripe anymore to get free agents to your live service game - you need to be good enough to poach. Good luck.

Maybe I’m just getting old. But the director CoD has gone to be a fast twitch shooter just like all the rest is so disappointing. I actually loved Warzone, even enjoyed the most recent, but BO6 is absolute garbage.

I’ve heard great things about the campaign, which I’m excited to try as I historically have enjoyed them even if linear and nothing crazy. But the MP is just bad. And knowing that’s coming to WZ is sad. And even zombies. I honestly think I just have nostalgia blindness where I’m used to my middle school through college days where it was my life.

COD is fine, I still routinely end up top 3 on the scoreboard, SP was solid but lacked the set pieces that usually come along with it.
