4TH Q: SPURS 101 ROCKETS 106

We ran out of time lol

I trust Fundamentals21's assessment and think we need Tre back. Games like this we miss another proper floor general. Blake is quick but still too erratic and Branham mostly shoots. Lots of guards but the latter two have one main calling card each, D (and speed) and shooting, still.

Castle is coming along and is talented but it's also trial by fire with each game.

Wemby shot chart is 4-5 in the paint, 1-5 from 3, 0-2 outside of paint 2s. Don't love the shot distribution relative to efficiency, but couldn't watch to see how he was defended inside and how/where we got him shots.

Sochan balled out. Have to see the T he got lol

We allowed five more 3s on four more attempts, accounting for a 10% decreased efficiency from the arc, including a back breaking late game one that put the comeback out of reach.

On to the next one.

Sochan is a growing menace to opponents and I love it!

I'm soo glad we have him back to doing what he does well and not forcing him to be something he's not.

I think our offense will be slightly better with Vassell but man do we lack players who can consistently score. We have a bunch of guys who miss easy shots and turn the ball over.

The way we look, this is what we are going to be even when Vassell is back. Win one and lose two. So basically we will win about 30 games or so unless something drastically changes. Wemby will single-handedly win us a couple games but once Paul gets hurt we are going to look almost exactly like we did last year :(

Eh it's early with this group and it will be addition by subtraction to have Champagne back on the bench where he belongs. Dev is around 20ppg that's a big difference. Sochan is far more actively scoring, again early but averaging 19ppg, a +10 over last season. Keldon is fully capable of scoring, too, and with Champagnie coming off the bench or balances out the roster and scoring punch far better.

We do need Tre back, though, in terms of having a guy who can get the ball to scorers. Hopefully having CP3 around infuses guys with extra knowledge they'd otherwise take longer to learn. And while Blake and Branham have their strengths, it's really with Castle that hope lies in terms of both being able to find other guys and score for himself and defend.

So yeah we technically have only two new players in Barnes - oh yeah he can chip in and score, too - and CP3, (and I can't wait for Minix to get some burn), we've yet to see us with full potency. These internal improvements and outside additions are solid additions around a better experienced Wemby. Like last season I wondered aloud how/whether Sochan could fit around Wemby. So far he is proving they can work well together. This is a crucial development. So now that gives us Dev, Sochan, Castle, Mamu, CP3, Barnes, Tre, and I think I'm missing someone (sometimes Branham) who do as well. We also have many means to make changes should the need or chance arise.

But let's give this group, who have answered some questions and shown some good things, some time to run on all cylinders and go from there. Our ball and off ball movement is better. Our D is better. TOs are still too high, and shot selection has to get better/smarter. How we address these and adjust are things I'll be looking for specifically now.

This EXACTLY!

When he has his back to the basket there is no denying him the ball. When he is patient he will get a dunk or a good shot. Plus defenses HAVE to react to him there which will give our not soo good scorers easier shots.

When he hovers outside the three point line, the offense looks just like last year. Everyone standing around and no one is open. Then we force shots which leads to other teams going on scoring runs against us.
