Players in NBA history with at least 29/18/16 in a game:
Oscar Robertson (twice)
Nikola Jokic

That's the list.

Nah. Jokic will have the best stats again (he always does) and if the team records are close to other MVP candidates then he will win again.

Jokic will deserve it but won't win it.

Crazy , SGA isn’t A better player than Jokic or Luca, but he’s getting propped up as the MVP

He's been an MVP-level player last season (better than Luka during the RS) and has had a great start to the new season. Of course he's being talked about as an MVP candidate. Why wouldn't he be?

I think shai is still too "new" in people's minds compared to luka and jokic

The tanking okc roster after 2020 made people forget about him as a star prospect and his amazing 2023 came in a team that missed the playoffs.

Last year was the first time we saw shai in the "big leagues/spotlight"

Players ln worse teams will almost always have the craziest stats as they need to go all out even vs weaker teams. But doing the most in meh teams (even if you are carrying them to their high 40's record in a herculean effort) is usually not rewarded with mvps

Given how good the Celitcs and Thunder are, Denver would probably need to win around 56 games in order for Jokic to win MVP. They might be on track to win around 46 games at the moment.

Sure, but it's weird to be surprised by, or take offense with, SGA being in the MVP conversation after he finished 2nd last year, plays on the team favored to be the #1 seed, and had a great start to the season.

I could understand someone being hesitant to have SGA in the ‘best player in the league’ conversation unless and until he has more playoff success. That's a fair conservative mindset. But not having him on as a shortlisted candidate for MVP? That's just silly.

I don't even see the point in talking about jokic, they're not going to give it to him

Yeah because you can see the future. If he’s playing like an MVP then he will be discussed.

I said the same after Jokic won his 2nd MVP.

The problem with competing with Jokic is that he's a seasoned marathon runner, and the others are very good 10K runners running a marathon.

They start out strong, and even post a great time at the 5K mark. But then it dawns on them that they have another 37KM to go and Jokic is behind them pacing himself. By the time he's at the 15KM mark, they're way behind him with their legs giving away, knowing they can't make it.

obviously SGA has been a prime candidate for MVP coming into the season and OKC being 4-0 adds alot of fuel to that fire but if we're being honest - he hasn't played at an MVP level (yet) this season. he will shoot better no doubt, it's been just 4 games but he's been off in terms of scoring efficiency after being the 2nd most consistent in terms of efficiency he's only at about 53 TS% and shouldn't be in the convo this season (yet). that's not to say he won't, but as of now he hasn't been quite himself in the first couple of games.

"if"? this is Jokic we're talking about, him playing like an MVP goes without saying. the man is a machine.

I hope Donovan gets some love… hope the Cavs win 60 games and then see if he has a shot.

Defense often goes out the window in these conversations, but SGA is third in the league in stocks. Chet is 1.

Allen is the best player on the Cavs so far this year and leads the league in Win shares with a top 10 BPM. Mitchell has been a bit below his standard so far. Lots of turnovers.

Chet has a good argument for having been the OKC's most productive player in the first 4 games of the season
