Should Houston and Sprewell have their numbers retired?

Post#1 » by Hatrick Ewing » Wed Oct 30, 2024 4:59 am

I know they didn't have massively long tenures here , but they were so impactful and beloved. I won't say it looks massively weird but it always looks a littlee tiny weird when a Knick wears 20 or 8.

Why stop there? Add Starks, Oak, Mason, and LJ too. Maybe Camby

Dolan will definitely build a statue for Allan before all is said and done.

I'd retire Houston's

Knicks were in the semis in '97 and '98 with Houston on the team before Sprewell

Houston had 5 straight post season appearances with the Knicks

Houston is still the 3rd best shooting guard the Knicks have had all-time

Should Hatrick be allowed to continue to make more threads?

I was the greatest fan of Sprewell‘s game, even on the Warriors, and I agree with you 100%

What’s more, Wade shouldn’t have a statue. Let’s not even start with the Grizzlies yyy

If you have to think about it and ask the question then the answer is NO.

Definitely not. And I think Spree only played like 5 years with the Knicks. Definitely not a long tenure.

If the Knicks are just itching to retire a jersey, it'll probably be Melo and/or Bernard King before Houston or Spree.

I'm sure it's already being done, but just give the 1999 team a quick ceremony at MSG every year.

Camby, Houston, LJ, Spree, Ward, KT, Ewing etc. All these guys were part of the memories and magic run.

That was quite the roster… if healthy, I think they might have had what it took.

i love spree but it's hard to retire a number that's been worn by JR smith since...plus it looks great on OG

While it pains me to admit it, I think Ewing getting hurt before the ECF against the Pacers helped the Knicks as they had to resort to small ball. This allowed Houston and Spree to basically hit the other team quick and hard.

If Ewing came back healthy in the finals, that might have helped the Knicks against the Twin Towers. But whenever I look at the box scores here, I think the Knicks just weren't shooting enough threes yet still shooting them poorly. We know Houston loved the long range 2....

.200 from three, but only 54 3PA in 5 games.

More minutes for Kurt Thomas and a healthy Ewing, and Knicks would have to be lights out from 3s. That's the only way they could have one that finals.

He got them 3 rings, i think he’s their best player in their franchise history. If Brunson even gets us ONE ring, he gets a statue

I liked it more when only Jordan has a statue.

If Clyde doesn’t have a statue, then Brunson is t getting one.

At the end of the day, nobody gets a statue in front of MSG. The Mecca is bigger than any one individual.
