The 2024 Raptor Rookie Class

Post#1 » by HangTime » Wed Oct 30, 2024 11:10 pm

Your thoughts so far?

I wouldn't mind seeing all 5 of them on the floor together.

Seems like an interesting balanced lineup.

Also, It's like we drafted two young vets (Mogbo and Shead), in a "terrible draft".. if we loaded up on 2024 picks early, other teams would probably have taken a better look at the 2024 draft

I know Shead is definitely the crowd favourite so far. The way the crowd got loud when Shead was pressuring the ball at mid court against the Nuggets was something I haven't seen in a while

The fact we could have a Shead/Walter/battle/Mogob/Chomche lineup is pretty exciting.

I bet the gameplan initially was these guys woudl see a lot of 905 time together. Funny how a few good breaks (bad breaks for Bruce / Olynyk / Scottie) makes a world of difference for them
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

Would love to see this 5 man unit getting run together.

I would be fine with it, outside Chomche.

That guy is no where near ready for NBA minutes. He really shouldnt ever really be dressed for NBA games let alone getting minutes.

They are all pretty close. I like all 3. They all provide different things & they all provide valuable things.

In terms of who I am enjoying watching the most;

1. Shead
2. Battle
3. Mogbo

Chomche is kind of unwatchable at the NBA level so far, but I am inerested in seeing him on the 905 over the next 2 seasons.

Can't wait to see Walter. He looked good at the end of summer league.

Same as before the draft
1. Mogbo
2. Walter
3. Shead

Since Shead is a low pick, he should be the better value.

Mogbo needs to start looking toward making a move to the basket when catch at high post. A bunch of times he could have driven to basket but didn't even look for the opportunity. It will come.

Nobody from this class is likely to end up as good as Siakam or even VV, but this draft has the potential to be as important as the 2016 class.

The Raps might have possibly built in an entire bench mob from one draft with all these guys. Have young cheap rotation players is so important. Chomche is still a work in progress, but I'd be surprised if Mogbo, Shead, Walter don't end up being rotation players long term. Plus, Ochai, who we got with a pick.

Add in a top 5-10 pick this year along with another potential rotation player with the Portland pick, and the talent starts to add up quickly. Not to mention, we have two more 1sts in 2016 coming.

I think they're going to build up to that, but for right now might try to get RJ back into a rhythm, with Scottie out.

Trending into an all-time Raps draft. Which is hilarious since we lost our top 10 pick, in what is generally regarded as a weak draft. If we come out of this with 5 NBA players (some of which look like winning role players) we have taken a pretty huge lap of the field via the draft.

I think Shead has impressed me most;
But I love the way Mogbo plays.

If we look at it from a physical and athletics tools and foundational skills perspective Mogbo and Walter are the highest potential prospects we have here.

I'm holding out for Chomche. He's got the potential to really transform the outlook of the team, but obviously he's lightyears away from that theoretical ceiling right now.

He made a 3 in yesterdays game, after the whistle, which didn't count but looked very natural coming out of his hand. I think he'll develop into a fine 3pt shooter.

Yeah this one is hard for me. I can talk myself into Shead or Mogbo.

Even Masai said he felt alot better AFTER the 2nd day of the draft.

If he had traded Bruce Brown to NYK for the 25th pick (assume the deal was on the table) we could also have had Ryan Dunn, them it would be a perfect draft

It's been a while since we've felt this way, but Masai nailed this draft.

This is coming from someone who's been somewhat down on his drafting lately. We needed the depth in the worst way and Ja'Kobe hasn't even played yet.

Just a masterclass.

No thanks on a weak draft. Would prefer someone from this year.
Someone like Carter Bryant, Isaiah Evans, Kanon Catchings are all good prospects in the late 1st or 2nd round.
