I'd go with my pre-season comp of Reggie Miller. At age 21 (next month) he's around Reggie at age 23.

The way he attacks close outs is pretty elite, he has an innate feel for what to do before he gets the pass which allows him to get an extra half step on the defender because his decision making is so quick in that situation. There's no catch and hold in his game, it's catch and shoot/pass/drive.

Totally agree. This combined with his going to be elite mid range game is going to make him a tough cover.

Already better at attacking a close-out and better at drawing fouls. Notably worse from 3 (Korver had like 2 seasons under 40%, and was shooting in volume, and he was anemic as far as drawn fouls). Korver also only ever had 1 season with 4+ FGA/g inside the arc and Dick right now is matching that career-high in 2FGA/g. I think it's not really a super accurate comparison just because he's got a significant rim-or-3 kind of game at the moment.

I guess he has no limit to his evolution. Like a taller Devon Booker going off for 70+ points, hopefully breaking 81 points 1 day.

Dick is a legitimate 3 level scorer. I think one comparison that I haven't seen yet is Ray Allen with less 3pt shooting. Allen had a reputation as an all-time 3pt threat, but earlier on in his career, he had a lot more in his bag than just the 3pt shot.

His points per dribble must be off the charts. There's no wasted movements or dribbles with him.

Minus the defense, he's the player I would have loved to be.

Right now Franz is the better passer but Dick has more potential to score like Banchero putting up 50pts the other night. I take the elite shooter in Dick.

I see them as different players, but when Gradey gets his extension down the line, I will likely see him as the better value. I thought Franz got a bit more than his worth. With Franz, Suggs, Banchero soon, it's going to be interesting to see what the Magic can get out of their other assets, because they are heading towards the tax line. Houston faces a similar situation with two max/near max deals already signed, Jabari Smith certainly due an extension next summer, then they have a bunch of starter worthy young guys like Eason, Whitmore, Thompson, Sheppard, sitting behind them. One small consolation from the Poeltl trade is that the Raps don't have another big extension to hand out next summer, so the salary space is quite good. Almost anyone from the last draft who develops, like Shead or Walter, are likely to be rotation players, not stars.

Here's the thing. Right now, with the injuries he is being asked to carry the scoring load with RJ, but if the starters are all ever healthy, his usage is likely to decline, but the quality of the looks he gets is likely to improve. I mean, guys like Shead and Mitchell are left alone to shoot from distance, but opponents won't be able to do that with Quickley, so a lot of things change, and they change for all players on the court. If he's not being used as much as a primary option, he gets to focus more on other aspects of the game, like rebounding and defence. That's the intrigue for me - how everyone in that lineup of RJ/IQ,Scottie/Poeltl and Dick changes when they can all feed off each other, and no one of the five can be ignored because each has significant strengths. It's potentially a very good offensive lineup but the bench will still be a weakness since the kids need development and it's unlikely Bruce Brown is around once some other team decides it needs him.

His layup package has always been underrated, yesterday he had some amazing finishes. I love that the coaching staff is telling him to be aggressive and not just hunt 3's. Hornet's were dialed in on Dick but couldn't contain him - great sign of growth.

Not crazy about having both Dick and RJ in a starting lineup going forward. Probably best to have Dick as 6th man. Will likely happen if we get a top pick anyways.

Dick will take the next step once he gets a haircut. Toronto is littered with good barbers. Someone take this man to a shop.

RJ* as a 6th man.

IQ/Dick/Barnes with 2 higher level defenders should work. RJ as a bench scorer is his best role going forward as well IMO.

OR, down the line, you use RJ to make a bigger deal for a better fit.
