Franz.

Yeah it's Franz by a clear margin. One 30 point game and people are getting a little nuts

And I'm a big fan of Dick. Love the Dick.

In his 2nd year Franz was a 19/4/4 guy. I dont think it is out of the realm of possiblity that Dick does something similar. Probably less assists as he is more off-ball than Wagner is.

This happens every draft. Everyone freaks out we take someone outside who they "want", and the guy they "want", ends up being worse in the end

Still early in the season, but curious what a 'redraft of 2023' would look like ?

Where would Dick be?

Potentially the same place.

you have Lively jumping into the top 10, probably top 5.

Podz, Whitmore and Jasquez jumping.

But you still have a ton of potential with Scott, Thompson twins, Coulabily...

Redraft so soon is tough because of the 'potential' of all the picks.

I thought my expectation of Gradey had gone though the roof!
After reading the last few pages of this thread I guess I would be considered a pessimist in comparison.

Last season I thought at best we were getting a Kapono / Korver / Kennard bench shooter as an absolute ceiling, now I am seeing a Joe Harris / Joe Ingles sort of player who can potentially start and do a few other things on the floor for you.

Not quite at Franz yet but check on me in a month.

Minus the defense, he's the player I would have loved to be.

Honestly, even his defence isn't awful, it's definitely not good, but I expected worse. His positioning has been improved and he seems to be reading the game better. I still think he ends up as a neutral defender within a couple years, which if he can continue refining his offensive game, will be nuts.

I'll keep saying it until I go hoarse, him and Scottie can be our poor mans Jokic/Murray.

Yeah he's still on the outside looking in at 10-13.

Coulabily though..... he keeps up that offensive aggressiveness along with his advertised defense, he's easily top 3 in that draft.

I think he jumps past

Ausar Thompson (more injury related than anything)
Jarace Walker (although I still like him a lot)
Taylor Hendricks
Jett Howard

and then below him hes been surpassed by

Jaquez
Podz
Whitmore

However, all 3 of those guys haven't been good so far this season and I would still be tempted to take Dick over them.

And then I think within 5 years at leat 1 or two of the following are complete busts

Scoot
Amen THompson
Anthony Black

Please name 10 rookies that would go above him in a redraft.

Wemby
Miller
Scoot (potential is to much to pass up I would guess)
Amen (potential is to much to pass up)
Black (see above)
Bilal
Wallace
Lively

Those are 8 "locks"

Then there is Ausar, Walker, Hendricks, JJJ, Podz, and Whitmore than you can convince yourself to take over him.

He is in that 8-15 range.

Victor

Scoot
Thompson Twins/Wallace/Gradey/Jaquez/Walker/Hendricks/

Basically a tossup in the last part

Edit: forgot about Black, yeah can put him in that last line too

I know you didn't ask me, but I like these exercises. :D

I can confidently say that the following players would go above him, keeping in mind that there will still be a bet on potential: Wemby, Miller, Scoot, Amen, Ausar, Coulibaly, Wallace, Lively, Podz. So at best, he's going 10th. I think you can have a real debate between him and Black, George, Podz, Jaquez, Whitmore.

With that said, if you asked who I personally would take over him based on play so far, the list gets shorter. For me, it would be Wemby, Miller, Amen, Coulibaly, Wallace, Lively. This would put him as high as 7.

I'm loving these throw ahead dribbles to get to his spots. All he needs is one screen to get a little separation from his defender and Gradey shoots it without hesitation, undeterred by any contest.

I'm not taking any of Pods, JJJ, Whitmore, or George first. Or better stated I can't find a good reason to.

I think Dick would be drafted right around where he was projected to go. 8. But he sure wouldn't fall that far again.

Gradey will end up being a top 5 player from his class. Once the three pointer rounds into form, he starts getting more ball handling duties the assists will go up and once he gets stronger the boards will go up. The only locks to be better than him at this point are Wemby and Miller. He might even end up giving Miller a run for his money.

I think the only lock is Wemby. At this point, Gradey would go top 8 but I wouldn't be surprised if this time next year he's rated even higher.
