Re: Zubac dominating early on when finally given more of a role.
I was watching the Clips put Kai Jones and KPJ out on the floor at the same time (at one point they ran a DHO with Kai as the ballhandler?!) and thinking how unserious this roster is right now. James Harden threw the ball out of bounds thinking the ref was on his team (averaging 10 FTA to start the season so I get why he thought that!).
Zubac stands out. A lot of nonsense around him and he's no nonsense. He rolls hard to the rim, crashes the glass, posts smaller players, and generally puts as much pressure on the rim as he can all the time. On defense he's their anchor. He's been good in this role for his whole career and now he's in his prime and finally having an opportunity to see that role expanded.
Until Kawhi comes back, Zubac touching the ball in the paint is one of the best things that can happen for the Clippers offense (along with Harden/Powell threes, or Harden going to the line). I don't anticipate them going away from him in the foreseeable future.

Who do you think is getting Zubac the ball? When he's putting up 12 assists?
If I'm playing vs the Clippers I just PNR Zubac every single time. He isn't going to stay out there for 36 minutes.

Zubac is like Valanciunas in some ways, like Jonas he constantly showed he can have big impact on offense but in the "modern" nba for some reason featuring a center seems like it's not allowed anymore.

Well yea… nobody is expecting Zu to continue at a top 5 MVP type level. My guess is he tapers off to something like 18/11 just because he’s not known for stamina. He typically falls off in second half of the season. Plus teams will realize he’s a legit scorer and adjust the defense.

Harden is always going to make a rolling big look like an all star.

Zubac goes as far as his conditioning takes him. Think he has a legit shot at MIP is he can maintain his energy he been playing with this season.

It’s tough to find enough possessions for a non-stretch big. If you’re going to feature them more you need to post them up (doesn’t happen much anymore) or you need a really good pnr guard (Harden) to get them touches as a roll man. It’s no coincidence Zubac is looking better on offense with Harden running the show. I’d wager there would be diminishing returns on efficiency for post ups for a lot of these guys if you upped their volume by a lot.

Him or Bones. Porter just out there trying to do a poor man's Harden, without the talent or IQ. Wasting possessions.
Yea.. it’s not good so far for KPJ. Dunn should also start over Mann probably. Mann has not been good at all on either end.
KPJ has played pretty well so far. I get that his shot is not falling, but he is getting decent looks that he creates on his own. The team does not have enough scoring and the bench needs playmakers and lead scorers now that Norm is starting. The only reserve player on the squad that can do this consistently is KPJ and that is why he is the first player off the bench. His shot will improve.
Agree that Jordan Miller needs time on the court and that Mann is looking less aggressive and needs to score more.

Guy is finally getting touches, and has been a league leader in post PPP for years, and he’s taking advantage of no Kawhi. When I brought up how the team could definitely get a 1st round pick for him, much of the forum laughed.
If he keeps up the aggression he could win MIP.
6 pts in 31 mins yesterday against “Dominayton”

Zu is a quality, old school center. He does really well in the pick and roll (although i would argue he gets away with moving screens all the time for some reason) and hes become a really good rebounder. he knows how to use his size to his advantage, and positions himself very smartly on the offensive end. Defensively hes below average. Hes a slow defender, and gets absolutely cooked when hes switched on. I think for that reason, and because he cant stretch the floor, hes hard to trust in the playoffs. As a regular season player, hes pretty solid.

he may struggle in switches like many big men, but the stats indicate he is one of the best rim protectors in the life- not necessarily in the form of blocked shots, but challenging shots and altering them. He is also more mobile now as he is more fit than he was earlier in his career.

He's too short to guard legit 7 footers.
I think he’s basically like another Al Horford. He always makes things happen on both ends. I think he can play a lot more in the modern NBA

Re: Zubac dominating early on when finally given more of a role.
I love the start, it's always tough though when something is just a few games. We knew Zubac could finish and had scoring skills, but how much can he sustain through a season and with increased minutes was unknown.
In addition, after 4 games, stats are solid, but also some of the things that happen in more minutes could be a factor, need more data. So far, FG% down to 55.4% from the usual 64%. Assists up as he's more involved in actions and given some passing, but turnovers up too. He's a better FT shooter than 57% so that should go up.
Hopefully he can sustain, but tough to know exactly how it plays out.

Re: Zubac dominating early on when finally given more of a role.
Just humiliated Bam with 26/10 while shutting him down.
Post all star break: 19.8 ppg, 12 rpg, 2.7 apg, 1.5 blocks
March: 21 ppg, 11.7 RPG, 3.2 apg, 1.2 blocks.
Leading the league in hook shots, elite in post scoring PPP. Top 10 defender this year easily (maybe closer to top 7).
On the entire season he’s around 16/12/3. The scary thing is most games he doesn’t even get the ball in the 4th. He has many games with only 5-8 shots. Is Zubac severely underrated? Where does he rank among centers?

Zubac is amazing, I don't understand why fans don't appreciate him more. Especially people who like 1990s basketball so much, Zubac is the archetypical two-way post up center from the earlier eras and he's been amazing in that role.
He's a clear all-star to me this season.
