LAL-BKN: Schroder & DayRon to LA for youth+picks

Post#1 » by MessiahUjiri » Fri Nov 1, 2024 2:47 am

Brooklyn wants to cash out on an expiring 31yo Schroder.

Lakers want to add another PG and a big man. They are familiar with Schroder, and he lives in LA.

Dennis Schroder + DayRon Sharpe
for
Jalen Hood-Schifino, Max Christie, Gabe Vincent, 2 ‘25 2nds (LAC + LAL)

For the Nets: Rev up the tank. JHS is a recent 1st rounder. Christie is still only 21yo. The 2 ‘25 2nds add incentive in a good draft class.

For the Lakers: Compete for the championship by filling in their talent gaps.

DLo / Schroder / Bronny
Reaves / Knecht / (Schroder)
Rui / Reddish
Lebron / Vando
AD / DayRon / Wood

Sharpe is young, cheap, potentially good and we need him plus we already potentially have 6 picks in that draft

Sharpe is also injury prone and needs to get paid next year. He is a very good offensive rebounder but not special as a prospect.

Nets already have Claxton, who is way better, and less injury prone.

For the picks: I assume they can just consolidate picks and salaries if they want to hit a home run. They can also draft and stash, or do future swaps for ‘26 optionality. More options in a good draft is always a good thing.

Love this for la
Warspite:

Prince + filler for Kobe Bryant
To be honest the way Prince has played and with Kobes injury/age/mileage Im not sure I would do that deal either. Still Prince is more important and he wins the head to head battles with Kobe.

Exactly, that second year of Vincent's salary is what halts this OP deal for the Nets.

The Lakers have declined their team option on Jalen Hood-Schifino, who will become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.
His only value in the trade is as an expiring contract.

No interest in Christie?

If we want it more simple and want to keep Sharpe, what about Vincent, JHS, and the Clippers 2nd for Dennis?

Get probably a decent 2nd and a shot at JHS

Gabe will be an expiring next yr
