Worst defence in the entire league, not surprised at all. Probably won't change any time soon with Scottie out and IQ eventually returning and reducing Mitchell/Shead minutes.

I’d say it’s surprising they’re the bottom defense with Poeltl Scottie Ochai and Davion/Shead playing so much, only 2 RJ games and 1 Quickley. And conversely that the offense is middle of the pack missing 2 top scorers.

Lots of sample noise with opponents though, only the Sixers have a below average offense and only the Cavs have an above average defense.

By design. With Ainge and Masai probably both targeting high picks this year.

The defensive numbers look much worse because of the Cleveland and Charlotte games. In both of those games, the benches on the other team were on ridiculous heaters that would get normalized over a larger sample size. We are still a bad defensive team, but just not this bad imo.

I’m so confused as to how Golden State is good defensively. Even the year they won the chip.

Valanciunas
Van Vleet
Delon Wright
Lebron
Embiid

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

Defensive stats are also worsened because of the fact we turn the ball over more than any other team in the NBA and that leads to a loooooot of transition against us.
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

Draymond.

The main cogs of their teams (Curry, Dray, Kerr) are mainstays. Defense is as much about familiarity and system as it is individual talent

The high turnover rate kills our defense. We give up way to many easy transition baskets along with giving up a tons of 3s to the opposition at 41%.

It's not all Draymond but he's legitamately one of the best defensive players of all time. He's not quite in his prime anymore but he's still doing it at an elite level.

Damn, Hawks surpassed us! Wiz and Jazz too. Gonna go down to the wire.

IQ while a worse defender, might help us defensively on this list for the simple fact our offense will be better (less transition from TOs, less misses which is harder to defend, etc.)
