He also absolutely has excessive confidence in a good way. He will miss a bunch of shots like he did against the Lakers today early on, and he will just keep gunning it every time anyways.

Tall and proud, that Dick just shoots all over the place eh?

But Dick has 31, 30, 15 and 25 in his last 4 games.

After how bad he looked to start last season, early contender for MIP?

He's now at 21 ppg on 49/37/89 shooting splits.

it's too early....he needs to be doing this for a month or so, before he gets noticed
also once barnes and IQ comes back, will see if he still puts up those numbers

what i do like, is how much gravity he's pulling already....
he's only a 37% shooter but ppl play him for like a 50% shooter

I'm just having a hard time finding a comp for him.

He's more mobile than Korver. Not as good of a defender as Klay.

Not true: Webber was ROY, Sprewell was All-NBA 1st team (youngest player ever at the time IIRC), the team had 50 victories... 8-)

Yep. Although I started following the NBA back in 1991. But I only "choose" to root for the Warriors 3 years later.

That's an interesting story: information was very scarce back then.

We only had newspaper clips (very basic boxscores were published 2 days later), a weekly TV show (NBA Action) which lasted for a good 15 minutes, and also 1 or 2 weekly games, which usually started past midnight (I remember watching a Barkley-led Suns team playing a Friday triple OT game against the Payton/Kemp Sonics, the game finished at nearly 3:30 am).

And also, last but not least, the videogames. NBA Live amongst them. With them we could check every single player in every single roster, memorize them, wonder about how they played, how they looked like...

So I had a friend (still one of my closest friends, actually) and we were obsessed with the NBA. One day we were talking about the sport, then we decided to choose one team to root for. Guess how we both choose the Warriors? By the logo, simple as that. The team back then had a very good, promising roster as well, that didn't hurt obviously.

True story, my friend even talked about this at the beginning of this very year,

Cheers, just wanted to say I enjoy reading your posts, btw.

Huerter doesn't show the midrange or finishing ability that Gradey is showing. Gradey is by far the most natural scorer on the Raps already...so fluid with the ball in his hands.

He legit can be an All Star

People don't want to admit this but his comp is Ray Allen. He's Ray Allen 2.0

That seems unlikely.

Ray Allen is known for his 3pt shot but had a lot more to him, and was more athletic than Gradey. He had a pretty good on-ball and off-dribble game and was an underrated distributor for a 2-guard, particularly given all his off-ball work. That comparison doesn't feel right at all watching him.

I'd say if everything goes well, Reggie miller is a better comp.

Stylistically, yeah. Dick isn't anywhere near Ray as a rebounder at the moment and Reggie was pretty, let's say "one-dimensional." He was a scorer, and didn't really offer anything else.

Aesthetically, that makes sense. But it's worth remembering that Reggie was a .402 FTr guy on his career. Not just a 39.5% 3pt shooter (on < 5 3PA/g). And led the league in FT% on 5 different occasions.

Gradey may get to Reggie levels at the line in terms of raw percentages, but he's quite anemic as far as foul-draw is concerned. Maybe that will improve as he gets some rep with the refs and as we get him using that drive a little more. He's certainly not afraid to do it.

But right at the moment, "better Detroit Rip Hamilton" seems more appropriate to me than Reggie. Like, when Rip starting actually shooting 3s, I mean. The volume is off, but you know what I mean?

Allen was getting 4-5 rebounds a game. Dick is currently at 4.2 this year. His added weight has helped him in that regard and he will only get stronger. He has a nose for where the ball is going so I think his rebounding can be around the 5 mark no problem.

And remember, Dick is still 20 years old turning 21 at the end of the month. Allen was a 21 year old rookie who averaged 13.4 pts and 4 reb. Dick looks like he is on track to beat those numbers at the same age.

Yeah, I actually remembered that wrong. I thought Ray was more of a 5-6 rpg guy, and that was noooot accurate. Should have checked first like I usually do xD

The passing gap was correct, though.

Ray did hit a team with 2 other 20+ ppg scorers, to be fair. Glenn Robinson and Vin Baker's 3rd-straight AS season. He was actually All-NBA 3rd Team that year.

I'm thinking Peja
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….
