LaMelo still playing like a superstar which I maintain remains the big story of the season for the Hornets.
Can't win without at least one superstar in today's NBA.

Tatum with 17 FT attempts, Hornets with 9. Lost in the fact that Tatum gets far too much unnecessary help from the refs is that BOS is an excellent team and we're a much, much more competitive team than last year - there's a lot not to like about our play so far but a lot to like - we competed the entire time against the best of the best and we're going to win far more games this year.

Re: GT: BOS @ CHA 11/2 @ 6:00
Yeah, the fact we're competitive in every game down our starting center would be tough to do for any unserious team.
We have a serious team which is a new feeling. Even the 43 win team under JB didn't feel as serious.
I think we can make some noise when/if Mark returns healthy.
I would love to add an enforcer who can bang around in the paint for rebounds, hustle, play with edge and attitude. That ferocity is a missing ingredient in our culture.
Which is why I'd love to bring in Bobby Portis these next 2 seasons.

Easily. Had 36 tonight with zero free throw attempts. Wasn't like he wasn't driving either. He needs to start screaming and acting like old dude who got blasted in the movie Boyz n the hood I guess.

I get it. Lee needed someone to get stops on Tatum down the stretch but I still feel disappointed coach didn't close with Tre Mann. Instead we saw Green, then Cody.
Hopefully, this only happens in close games where the Hornets are facing a superstar isolation scorer like Tatum, Kevin Durant, etc.
I wouldn't do it for Brunson.

I think Mann has the potential to be a pretty damn good player and he's on his way. But his tunnel vision at times can be concerning. He knows he can take almost anyone in the league off the dribble but when you do that and run into 2 massive guys you might want to kick it to a wide open shooter. Or anyone for that matter.

Indeed, and yet it still comes back to gaps…major gaps. The hole in the middle was huge tonight, still large when Richards is playing but he could have helped. Our talent and depth is much better, despite the MIA’s. Melo star power is real…and vital to keeping the Hornets competitive.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Yeah, when Luke Kornet is disrupting your D, there's issues.

Once Miller makes a massive leap, which i think he will make strides this year but year 3 and 4 is where it's normally at we will be cooking.

Melo has been next-level excellent offensively - think the foul-out situation will settle as he becomes more accustomed to trying on defense - new for him - but he needs to bring those TO's down to help us get W's. 3rd in the league.

He feels so on the cusp - you can just see it - his confidence and aggressiveness are really ratcheted up.

Yeah, noticed the tunnel vision more so tonight than past games. The silver lining is it's a mark of confidence.
Some of his tendency has to do with lack of continuity in his lineups. He will learn to adjust whenever alongside LaMelo & Miller. He might be trying too hard, feeling stuck behind Green and Martin. Trying to assert his value on offense to cover the gap in defense.
I think if they all stay healthy they can develop the chemistry they need to bring out the best in all players.
LaMelo, Miller, and Mann have star talent. LaMelo is playing like a superstar and Brandon has that same ceiling.
We are heading in the right direction with those 3 even if you ignore the rest of the roster. As the trio matures they will show most teams don't have the luxury of running 3 high-end talents like them, unless they struck gold in the draft or play in a large market.
