I think we have a 45 wins team right now, mostly because we can't play D.

Kyle being gone hurts more on D than I thought

Gobert or him pretty much would be on court at all times and would direct the D

Randle just doesn't get into a defensive stance way too often

You're right. For the moment we are slightly better in offense but really worst in defense.
Defense was our identity last year and bring us to Conf Final. Then ANT decide he want to shoot more, we trade KAT who was the most improve defensive player of the year and here we go. Not much defense at the moment.
And in a system like this, Mike is pretty useless and is probably better coming from the bench.

Lot's of job to do right now before reaching last year level.

Need edwards to keep words to a minimum post game presser.

Need jaden to step it up.

Need a defensive center 8 minutes a game.

Need that c soon. Naz/Randle works against only a few teams regular season, and will kill us post season.

Need to box out. I swear I could box out ant easy, doesn't matter his vertical has me by 24". Positioning matters, and these guys are really bad at it.

Defense is the big issue for me. Tonight we shoot not well but leg were tired. But when Rudy sit and NAZ-Randle play together, defense is beyond bad.
Mike has also to wake up. Lot's of good shooter start the season shooting slow ( TMann, Caruso, Dame,Haliburton,SGA...) but Mike has to play much better.

That was EMBARRASSING.

One of the worst offensive teams in the league and we made them look like the Celtics for 3 quarters.
Nickeil is the only player who can even get into a proper defensive stance.
The effort and awareness on the defensive end would be embarrassing for a high school team let alone an NBA team.
And yes Julius sucks, but it's not just him. It's basically ALL 7 rotation players BESIDES NAW.
I think I've seen more halfass closeouts from Ant in the last 3 games than I saw all of last year.

We let Carlton from Fresh Prince of Bel-Air run a layup drill on us tonight all night long and couldn't put any ball pressure on a COMPLETELY COOKED CP3.

It's just a full scale 4 alarm dumpster fire for a full 6 games now.
Time to hit the panic button.

This team will be fighting for the last 2 play-in spots if this keeps up.
Denver needed OT to beat 2 god awful teams in Toronto and Brooklyn, our win over them was nothing to be proud of.

Oh but wait…

“No need to worry”
“It’s early”
“Need time to gel”
… then repeat over and over with slightly different words

No need to play the youngsters they been developing in D--league for 2-3 years…. Apparently been a total waste of time. Then go draft 2 unplayable rookies that cannot get time over a 37 year old washed up (mostly) vet? Yikes.

We (and our awesome veteran group) are in the bottom 10 for turnovers!

We (and our awesome veteran group) are 2nd to last in rebounding!

But I do love the excuses… I’ve love the job Tim Connelly has done and do not believe this is his finished product by any stretch, however, I have lost some luster with Finch yet still give him the benefit of the doubt. That said, these two have some serious issues right now…

You can only control what you can control.

Right now we can control Conley playing less and McDaniels playing on-ball less, by starting our best guard besides Ant: NAW, for Conley.

NAW
Ant
McDaniels
Randle
Gobert

That lineup makes so much sense right now.

Finch (and / or Connelly) need to DITCH POLITICS.

Embarrassing.

Is this really the ferocious defensive Wolves team we saw just few months ago?

We defending like bunch of scared clueless chihuahuas...

Overall, im not too worried. We all know that this could take a few games to get these guys comfortable enough with each other. If we can gain much needed separation this next couple of weeks then its a big win

Im sorry, but Randle is a liability defensively as a pf, let alone a center. A "dog" as I see it, is someone who plays defense toughly in their position. Randle prefers to play defense on the perimeter, which he isn't horrible at, but "dog".. no

That's right. Randle is no dog on the defensive end. He's a major liability there. Finch has to have a "heart to heart" with him that his effort on the D end is unacceptable.

I don't think playing the younger guys is going to help right now. They are going to be more lost and unreliable than the vets we have. We are trying to find an identity and adding more variables to that would likely complicate things. We are in searching mode right now.

I also think we need to kind of forget about the team we were. I'm not sure we will be able to replicate that anymore. This team can still be very good but it will probably be different, it wont be that same hard-nosed defensive power of tower team we had last season. Not only did we lose KAT who was a major component of that we also lost Anderson who was integral.

This team will be something different. There is also just a reality that it might not be as good. Have to give it time and see how things develop.

Bring in the greatest rebounding minds, and just focus on that for a week. No shooting, no dribbling, nothing. Fundamentals of position.

Rotations/chemistry mean nothing when we cannot rebound.

We live in the world of the willing & able … they are all able, but not all are willing … no different than society itself.

Someone already mentioned that Edwards played pretty lazy defense? No effort whatsoever. Edwards and Randle are worst defender in roster, and this is pretty awful, considering we have Conley and Ingles who at least try

I thought it was sad how much better the offense looked with Randle and Ant on the bench. If you are not gonna play defense, you better play well offensively. Too many mistakes, turnovers, and wasted possessions.
