After 7 games, JT is shooting a career high 48% from the field.

So even if the 3pt shooting is bad, he's doing well from inside the arc.

The Hornets won the last 42 minutes of this game. Outscored the Celtics, 94-92. Congrats to them!

He will have a problem cone playoff time again with his shooting. If this continues, he needs to change his form in the off season. Tweaking it won’t cut it seems like. Somebidy needs to tell him that he’s not a great shooter, and just focus mostly on attacking the rim.

The one thing that is glaring after watching all Celtics games for the last 3 season and a bunch more games from other teams is that JT is the tightest guarded player in the league - and by a large margin.
He is the only one that most teams cover full court and constantly harass and play physical. And he is one of the least liked players by the refs (not calling enough fouls on him). I know I am biased as a Celtics fan - but this is what I see.

I think that the 3s are a way for him to take a breather and on the way maybe get a bucket.

I think he should play a little more on the block against smaller guys (like Green and Martin) and less dribble on the top of the 3 line and settle for a contested step back 3. abuse the smaller guys on the block (midrange) and maybe they will stop harassing

Imagine the potential of a Tatum mastering the 3pt shot and shooting 40% from beyond the arc.

It was just in 2023 that majority of us here wanted JB to stop dribbling and trying to be a playmaker.

But Joe encouraged JB to improve in that department and gave JB the green light to handle the ball and run the offense.

It paid off last season as JB got better in handling the ball and making the right reads.

Time will come when JT figures out what will be best for his game.

JT's shooting form looks better this year but he's again making brain dead decisions on shot selection. He's so good he's still impactful but I can't understand why a player so smart does so many dumb things with the three point shot.

I think what's best for his game is being more physical than he wants to be for a full regular season.
When he consistently attacks the hoop -- mostly by driving, but also with the occasional post-up -- that's the best version of himself.
And I think right now he is making the business decision to wait until April -- maybe May -- to do that.
I think that chucking up a lot of 3s -- "working on his shot" -- is what we're going to get in the meantime. Except for the rare game (like vs GS!) or occasional minutes (like down the stretch against IND) when he feels like it's worth it.
Paul Pierce appreciation society.

I think JT is just working on his game, he’s going to keep taking the 3s people don’t want because he believes it’s going to help him in the long run of his career. He’s not going to be a spring chicken forever, a side step 3 doesn’t take much athleticism, see Harden. If he can maintain shooting high % on 3s he’ll have longevity if no major injuries. He’s not going to get a lot of conventional 3s because of the coverage, he has to take what he can create. He’s missing them, but he gets open on them. I don’t thinks he’s going to do it as much in the playoffs anyway, this is just working on it until he can use it freely, at any time one day.

Yes, you’re being a Celtics fan on the foul situation, JT is always around the top of FTs taken per game. I think it was Constable or Zoya who said that a few seasons back and I don’t have the numbers, but he takes a lot so I’m sure it’s maintained since then. A lot by league comparison. He gets his calls, no one is going to get all they deserve, not even close.

On the second night of a back to back, the Celtics once again defeated the Charlotte Hornets. A good time was had by all participants.

The double big Celtics busted out of the gate early and built a large lead in the first half. Despite a rough third quarter, the Celtics prevailed, which is the preferred outcome. Luke Kornet stood tall all game long. Pritchard added some needed scoring. Tatum tatumed.

Next game, Monday in Atlanta. Go Celtics! Get well soon bisme!

Thanks a ton, Gant! Great OP and thread title cheers.

I'm mostly better. Still need to rest but I'm not feeling so crazy. Should be cool making the thread for tomorrow's game.

I have fun with the postgame threads. It's kinda stressful with a close game where you don't know what the result will be until the final buzzer. It's like, yo how am I supposed to be watching this game and writing multiple versions of a postgame thread at the same time lol. But someone has to do it haha. Thanks again.

I see you're from Spain. In English, "picture" and "pritchard" sound pretty similar. So in this case "pritchard perfect" = "picture perfect" (I hope the explanation makes sense).

Yeah the worst is when we're ahead and I spend time during the game finding highlights, and then we lose haha.

Yep, people probably think it’s easy, but if you want to do it well, it takes work! You go all out for us! Couldn’t be me if we were the Pacers g1 ECF last season, the thread would only have :o !

You're welcome. I felt the same- It was fun, but not easy to do while watching the game. I never thought about these details until doing it. I did end up making two postgame threads, one for a win and one for a loss.

At first I just followed your template and made a winning one, but realized it is theoretically possible for them to lose so wrote a losing one. Then I had to write a few things on both as the game was progressing, which was confusing.

Fortunately the game wasn't close, so I jettisoned the losing draft with two minutes left, and finished off the winning one. By then I was adequately distracted, so I didn't even bother looking for video highlights.

Oh man, I had no idea what went into this. You're heroic.

The saying is "picture perfect" is something looks so good, it's worthy of taking a picture of (orginated back in the day before smart phones, when people only took p[ictures on rare occassions when they saw something really awesome, as opposed to these days when people take a pcture of damn near everything lol).

So the word play is saying Pritchard Perfect instead, which sounds a lot like picture perfect. They're saying his shot looks good..
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)
