Re: Around the NBA - New Season, New Thread
Before the season started I wouldn't even question moving kat and pieces for giannis. Now Idk.
I feel the knicks wondow is small. Maybe 2-3 years so Giannis falling off soon doesn't worry me.
I just don't know if we would be better with him and killing our depth even more.
Prolly part of beign hesitant is being a prisoner of the moment with kat playing out of his mind. Idk.
Like SB said it's pretty dope we are in this situation to even realistically consider this. Cause we used to talk about sht like this with NO realistic chance at it. Then tune in to games to watch the knicks get blown out.

Def being a prisoner of the moment.. just remember the Boston game and you'll do the trade
It's def risky but when was the last time you can say we had 2 MVP candidates on a knicks team

mf I'm old but not sham/wingo old. I didnt watch those 70s teams.
I know i know but these 5out freaks have me believing. And you have to admit kat is balling balling right now. He is putting up stupid numbers right now. They'll fall some but we're contenders if he keeps this up. Then we lose even more depth.
How are we beating the Cs with Giannis/Brunson and the Westchester knicks

Re: Around the NBA - New Season, New Thread
Giannis wants to handle the ball and initiate. This would move Brunson off the ball for a lot of possessions.
The reason I thought KAT would be a great addition is that I believe KAT and Brunson's games can mesh in a way that they become more than the sum of their parts. In the same way that Stockton and Malone made each other better, albeit with very different styles, and not necessarily on the same level.
KAT doesn't take the ball away from Brunson. He spaces the floor for him, and when he does get the ball he's one of the most efficient scorers in the entire NBA. So either way he maximizes Brunson's skill set, and enhances the offense.
Giannis would take away from Brunson's game, just as he did to Dame. And sure, you can argue that Brunson's superior to Dame but that is besides the point. Dame has not been able to fully express his talent with Giannis, and it has not only created friction in Milwaukee's offense but - as it seems - in the locker room as well.
I don't think getting Giannis for KAT would make us significantly better, let alone at the price it would cost. If he costs us KAT and Mikal (which I think would be the minimum offer for any deal), I don't think you have enough weapons left to compete with Boston.

Re: Around the NBA - New Season, New Thread
It’s not like Dame is Elfrid Payton I mean Dame went for 41 last night on 10 made 3s while Giannis dropped 34/16/9 and they still lost. There’s more to it than just pairing two guys up who can put up numbers. That’s not all there is to it. Also you instantly have to find a starting caliber stretch 5, Giannis himself will demand it because he needs the space to operate. If you are depleting the roster of all assets to get Giannis but still need those assets to reconstruct the roster so it can work then you are basically left in the same situation the Bucks are in currently.
I like the way the Knicks are playing right now, might be best to keep building on that and seeing how far they can go

I do not think we could get Giannis trading KAT plus awful picks.
THe deal would be OG plus Mikal for Giannis plus Trent.

KAT is playing good right now which would make sense to sell high on him. Giannis is a proven championship winner and a 2x mvp player. You have to take the risk imo

I don’t think we’ll go after Giannis if we look great after 10-15 games.
However, I would not totally rule out a KAT, Deuce, Dadiet, Rokas, WAS 1st, future pick swap, and three 2nd rounders for Giannis. We’d still have Mitch, Precious, Payne, Kolek, and McCullar to consolidate for a bench piece if needed.

If you trade for Gannis you must keep KAT at all cost !! Gannis and Kat at the 4/5 is unstoppable.
I start my offer with
Hart
OG
Duece
Robinson
And whatever picks we have to offer
Brunson
Bridges
???
Gannis
KAT
Just wow !! KAT spacing paired with Gannis. That's scary.

Re: Around the NBA - New Season, New Thread
I think the only team that can afford Giannis is OKC. They just have the combination of picks and youth, and that 30 mill IHart contract for matching purposes.
A combination of 2 or 3 of Lou Dort, Chet, Isiah Joe, Jalen Williams, and Ihart (for matching reasons) plus some draft picks for Giannis just makes sense. Giannis and SGA would probably come out the east, and the bucks would have great pieces to start a rebuild right.

The Rockets can get him too, the Spurs have the picks if they want as well.
The Bucks trading Giannis means they're going to want to rebuild, young players and picks trumps anything we can offer. This will be like when the Thunder traded PG and Russ, they got a superstar package for PG and a decent package for Russ. We're not a realistic trade partner, it's not even remotely realistic.

Giannis has to want to go to OKC or Rockets, but yes they have the assets. The question is if MIl demands Chet and if OKC doesn’t want to send Chet… could be a standoff.

Giannis isn't going to OKC or Houston. They aren't on his list of teams he wants to get traded to. Bucks aren't gonna trade him without his consent.

Lets see what happens. Especially OKC, with SGA and Caruso. They are essentially the backcourt he's been asking the Bucks for.
