40 Year Old Kareem playmaking, with clips! (1987)

Randomly decided to track Kareem in 1987, just to see how much post volume and gravity he still received. And, to say the least, it's quite a lot. I counted 8 times he created an advantage for his teammate.

Please look at 6:05, even the commentators of the opposing team, who only just started playing the Lakers today, called Kareem a dilemma, either you double/triple and force him to pass, or go one on one. Kareem's scoring was particularly harder than the rest of the team. He definitely had issues had passing out too little, but, he still remains insanely efficient up until 1988. Mind you, this man is 40 years old!

Kareem is extremely underrated.

I have always said that Kareem is a player with arguably GOAT-level gravity and I don't think there is a substantial difference between him and Shaq in that regard. Great work!

Edit: I see that some the video don't align with provided time, are you sure you did it right?

but how is kareem "extremely" underrated? he is the or one of the few greatest players of all time isnt he??people may like other players more but his superior quality is undeniable imo.

anyways i love these trackings that are done on rgm... :biggrin:

“Woke” NBA fans think Kareem was fed baskets by Magic, and that he was just close to that good of a scorer because he was on the Lakers, which isn’t true. His playmaking is also never talked about later on.

Was all-NBA 1st team just the season before (1985-86) at the age of 38/39. Not many have done that so late in their career.

His playmaking is also never talked about later on.

Entered the 80s already in his 30s, but in the decade threw for the 3rd most assists among all Cs (only Sikma and Alvan Adams threw for more). In the 70s threw for the most assists among Cs, only other C even close was Unseld.
