I don't think it's so out of the question Milwaukee would try to honor Giannis's request to go to Miami; Miami simply doesn't have very valuable assets unless it moves Butler and/or Adebayo to get Giannis. The rumor was Miami was willing to move Adebayo for Durant, so I would assume Miami would trade Adebayo to Milwaukee. If Miami really thinks Butler won't re-sign with Miami OR that he doesn't fit with Giannis, he could then be moved to re-tool. Not saying this following trade is going to happen, but it works on the trade checker
- Miami gets: Giannis, B Lopez, VanVleet, and D Brooks
Milwaukee gets: Adebayo, Herro, Rozier, R Sheppard, A Thompson, C Whitmore, Ware, 2 1sts from Miami + 2 swaps
Houston gets: Butler and Lillard
Spoiler:
The large point is that a deal around Giannis, Butler and/or Adebayo could get done.

Miami wasn’t willing to send Bam for KD, I’d assume they maybe would for Giannis

Getting Dame would nearly be the exact same thing that happened with Jimmy

If we get Dame I'd prefer we keep Richardson and start him at the 2, then bring Herro off the bench.

STOP DIGGING DEEPER
mortgaging our future for 35 Lilard is beyond desperate.
He's not that guy anymore, and he's about to fall off a cliff.
He's not the difference between losing to the Kings and wining a series against OKC or Celtics.
Jimmy era is done, we had our chances and couldn't capitalize.
It's time to build our next NEW era, not spend our last resources trying to revive a time that is already gone.

The next couple of games are brutal. We needed the win vs Sacramento. @Suns @Nuggets @Wolves is as bad as it gets. I would be happy even with 1-2.

Re: 2024-25 Regular Season Thread Vol. 1
Yeah... I don't think Dame is the answer even if he was able to be added to Bam and Jimmy.
I hate to say this, but I'm no longer against team trading Bam. The Nets got 4 unprotected first rounders for Bridges. In 2019 the Clippers gave up Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Danilo Gallinari, five first-round draft picks, and the rights to swap two other first-round picks for Paul George. Nobody knew how good SGA was going to be, but he was a younger guy with potential. Bam right now is definitely better than Bridges or 2019 PG.
If Heat could get 4-5 first round picks and a young guy with potential they think may be an allstar then I think they have to consider it. It's nothing against Bam. He is a likeable guy and plays hard, but I think at this point the team's timeline for being a contender and Bam's prime don't lineup. He's 27 so what does he have? 3-4 more years of being able to guard everyone on the court? He's not going to be the #1 guy offensively, but he's pretty much All NBA/Allstar level for everything else. I like watching Bam play... I just wish he'd be more aggressive offensively. Bam worked perfect when Butler was more capable, but at 35 you can't expect Jimmy to carry the team offensively every night.
Try to do right by Jimmy and send him to a place he has a chance to win and get more picks.
Let Herro be the tank commander and hope to luck out in the lottery and land Flagg in addition to 5-7 1st rounders you get for Bam and Jimmy, and hopefully one of the young players they get back turns in to a legit player.
I know the Heat will never do this, but at this point I don't see this team being more than at best a first round exit.

My understanding is that Miami was willing to deal Bam in a KD deal, but no way of knowing for sure.
At any rate, Giannis is an upgrade over Adebayo in every way possible, so I can't imagine Miami would pass on a perennial MVP candidate to keep Bam.

I dont think the decision makers outside of South Florida have the type of perception of Bam that would warrant anywhere near that kind of return.
I'll go against the grain here but if Dame could be had for a package that includes Rozier, Duncan, 1 pick, and a non-Herro/Jaime/Ware contract, I'd do it. We aren't going to tank so the Flagg option is off the table. The young 1A option (ie: Fox, Edwards, etc.) is simply not available, so unless there's a sense somebody is going to be available this summer I wouldn't turn down the opportunity to get a guy who puts Jimmy, Herro, and Bam in the correct order in terms of 2nd, 3rd option, even if he is 34.

I am voting no on trading for Lillard. Too old and too much mileage on those legs. .I think they should trade for John Collins to play pf. Collins just had a 28 point 13 rebound game. I would also look at Colin Sexton too.

Heat not matching scoring in third quarter too. Can't have under 20 points quarter when other team is scoring 25+

Houston as a trade partner is very interesting.

Harder to score when having to take the ball out of bounds after makes vs getting a defensive rebound and possibly finding an easy shot early in the shot clock with a possible mismatch. For the other team, it's much easier to matchup on defense when you have more time after a make.

Re: 2024-25 Regular Season Thread Vol. 1
Dame: 28-5-8 on 64TS%. I think he would fix this team pretty easily and would also be the best playmaker we’ve had since LeBron/Wade. Hell he’d be arguably the best 3 level scorer in Heat history.
I think then depending on what it takes to get Dame you then and figure out what/who would be seamless fit at the 4 and go from there. Doesn’t have to be DFS but someone like him is exactly what we’ve always loved at the 4 and what we’ve done best with at the 4.
Also stop playing these damn bums as Bams backup; if ware isn’t going to be playing alongside Bam he needs to be backing him up at minimum. This is just getting absurd at this point and honestly just seems stubborn as fuxk from the coaching staff

Wtf is Rozier doing? Did he think the Heat had 6 seconds on the clock, why is he running full speed away from the basket?

6’7 220 with a 7 foot wingspan. 3 and D guy who just plays his role, this is what we need at the 4.
I’m seeing John Collins name too. Is he willing to buy into this role and can he give us tough hard nosed play? If so then sure.
