We've had fewer home playoff games in any four year period under AKME than any period since the post Jordan Krause era, and that is true while making a concerted effort to make the playoffs each year, while both other times we had similarly poor playoff draughts we were intentionally collecting assets.
The FO is bullet-proof until the home game attendance drops.
I think fans say this, but I think it's way more nuanced than that. The team interest and performance matters. We always announce sell outs, but if you go to the game, you know those numbers are juiced by 25% giveaways to charity and you're losing money on how much you can sell radio/tv ads for as well as parking/concessions/merch, etc..
So I don't think this is wrong in spirit, but I don't think its really straight attendance they are looking at.
They had a plan, it blew up when Lonzo got hurt and they doubled-down on staying the course. We are at the end of that double-down this season. We won't know wtf these dudes have in mind until we see how our lotto balls sort out but for their job security it is better to keep Jerry happy and aim for a first round knock out.
If you could consistently get 1st round knockouts, that is probably be true. We haven't done that. We've missed the playoffs in 3 of the 4 years these guys have been here, and will likely miss this year which would tie the playoff resume of the end of the GarPax era (4 out of 5 misses) when they were tanking to build assets in 3 of those years.
