Would be impressed if he can maintain his 16.7% offensive rebounding rate spending time beyond the arc. BTW, if Queta can maintain that % while playing 72 more games for the Cs, he will be the franchise leader in OREB%. Leon Powe is currently 1st with 15.2% (Timelord 2nd).

Love that he can hit 3’s in practice, but don’t like him actually taking one during games. He should focus on developing some semi hooks in the post instead.

We've seen this movie before:

Queta needs to work on his finishing. That's maybe less appealing, and less obvious how to do it -- but make those bunnies, big man!

At one point last year I was posting how much I’d love vintage Amir Johnson on this team.

Kinda hanging my head I missed that they grabbed the best freaking comp in the league in Xavier Tillman.

Tbh I am happier giving Queta back up minutes then Kornet for the time being, think he could be genuine option off the bench for us going forwards esp after Al retires.

Was rooting for him to put up that 3pt shot, it wasn't poor.

I agree with this. He was out of position/slow to react a couple few times last night but the guy just makes things happen while he’s out there. Gets a Theis whistle too. Picking spots and giving him burn against lesser teams is the right way to go

Didn't get as low in his crouch as he did when he was locked in last year.

different looks for different lineups -- good thing is there's room for both while KP is out.
Actually the good thing is the Cs picked this guy up for absolutely nothing, seemingly as a random scratch ticket, and within like 13 months he's a 'real' NBA player -- how awesome is that?

In my opinion, Queta is the very definition of "active big man" that I have been asking the Celtic to get for many years now. Yes he is limited on offense and makes defensive mistakes, but the energy and activity that Queta brings is useful for any NBA team. I couldn't be happier with the Celtics big man mix of Porzingis, Horford, Kornet, Tillman and Queta.

Having Queta allows the Celtics to play Big Al Horford 20 minutes against the Wizards with no active KP. That's Queta's biggest contribution by far.

It might feel like a random scratch ticket from the outside but I'm sure that the Celtics knew exactly what they were doing when they brought him in. They had clearly been looking at guys from that archetype (Kabengele, Azubuike, etc.) during previous summers. What is surprising is that Queta was available for free in the first place considering he was only two years removed from getting picked at the top of the second round and he was good in his G-League stints. Not really his fault that Sacrmento already had one of the most durable all stars (Sabonis) and two decent back ups (Len and Holmes) at his position so he had no chance at cracking the rotation.

There does seem to be a market inefficiency in the way the league values young guys that don't instantly pan out with their first team. Those guys tend to become very undervalued. Hell, Indiana has bascially built a conference finalist mostly from guys that were traded away on their rookie contracts (Haliburton, Nesmith, Toppin, Jalen Smith...).

Neems has the most room to grow IMO this season especially with KP's absence. Just keep on giving him minutes. He's shown the last two seasons between Maine and Bos that he's not a liability on the FT line.

I like how Joe's building him up. If he wants to go with a 2 big lineup it should only be with him and AL. He's not a dominant big, but I've said before putting him on the floor with all shooters is scary for teams. The paints open and allows him to be active for rebounds.

He can be a 20+mpg player starting or off the bench. Neems and KP on the floor together could be crazy.

Return to Boston Celtics
