Ugly game, but the positive take away is that the 76ers were shooting out of their minds (relative to their usual performance), Devin Booker played like doggy doo doo and we were still able to squeeze out a victory.
The 76ers hit a season high in three pointers, hitting almost twice their season average in makes, while shooting a whopping 10 percent about their usual efficiency.
This game also goes to show that the Suns, while vastly improved in offensive execution, still show some of the bad tendencies from last year. I'm confident this will get better as the season progresses.
We
can win ugly. That alone is a major departure from last season where we couldn't even close out games with a double digit lead in the clutch.
But not just that, (small sample size, I know) so far in 5 clutch wins:
We're #3 behind Boston and Cleveland in both net rating and plus/minus at 53.2 and 5.0 respectively.
We're #1 in clutch time true shooting at 74.6%
We're #1 in clutch time defensive rating at 74.5
We're #1 in clutch time opponent eFG% at 32.4%
We're #3 in clutch time rebounding % at 71.4%
We're #5 in clutch time FT rate at 1.111
We're #9 in clutch time pace at 104.1
We're #10 in clutch time opponent FT rate at 0.432
We're #28 in clutch time TOV%
We're executing, we're locking down defensively AND we can still clean up a lot of our TO's in the clutch.
So we're obviously not a perfect team, we still have plenty of things we need to work on but just being on our way to getting rid of that 4th quarter Achilles Heel is what got us to 5-1 when we could've easily been 2-4
