And I get the argument right, of Thibs doesn't trust the bench, they're young/inexperienced, whatever. Is this not the exact time you play them to see what they're made of? Like, we lost the game anyways, and we were only missing 1 player. The fact we really only played 8 players (and really it was only 7, Kolek only got 5 minutes lol) is inexcusable

82 games is a long season. You gotta manage wear and tear. It's not about mitigating big injuries as much as it's about mitigating the small, lingering injuries that pile up by the end.

Wear and tear is a myth. No difference if u play 25 or 35 mins as long as the person is in shape to do so.

I would argue it’s actually better for players to play more minutes than less.

This makes me think that the analysis about post ups being bad offense might have merit. (Joking, I know it is)

I thought that Houston got away with a lot of fouling when KAT was trying to post up their wings, but I also think he didn't do a great job of establishing position. Either way, if opponents are going to put a wing on KAT I would take Hart out, put Deuce in and space the floor out.

It was damn near prison ball last night. Kudos to Udoka for having his kids play tough.

Morning thoughts.

Tough loss but we had a chance down 1 with 5 minutes left but that Green 3 and Thompson dunk killed us. Gotta learn how to respond and not play hero ball.

Zebras sucked but cannot get outrebounded like that.

Deuce 0-9 shooting and Hart 4 rebounds in 38 minutes cannot happen.

OG 5/6 from 3 was huge and he should have been on Sengun from the start but it might not have made a difference. Sengun is a stud.

3-3 is where I thought we'd be after 2 weeks. I see a lot of promise offensively but the defense and rebounding need to be the focus and identity if we want to reach contender status.

The answer against switch teams is to get the ball to KAT in the high post free throw line against the smaller defender so he can shoot over the top or he can facilitate curl hand offs or backdoor passes like iHart. IE run the offense through KAT in those games and ask him to play a Jokic type role. He can do it.

I'm not upset about the loss, but I do still have my doubts about KAT being our center full-time. I think we need KAT at the 4 and Mitch at the 5, and KAT can play center in the right situations.

At the very least, we need another rotation guy off the bench. Sims ain't it, and Kolek is too raw.

Brunson/Cam/Deuce can handle the guard spot and Hart/OG/Bridges should be enough on the wing.

We desperately need a center that can play defense. No way Sengun dominates Mitch the way he dominated Kat tonight.

I'm upset, not because what you said about the Rockets wasn't true. But this was still a very winnable game...and the coach and players didn't put out our best product. Towns with the dumb fouls, Brunson with the tunnel vision. Really only O.G. brought it.

We were also lacking in rebounding and interior defense last night... that's why Precious and Mitch need to come back as soon as they're healthy. They'll fill a huge need for this team.

We'll get way better but I'm still not sold on KAT's defense being good enough next to Brunson to be on par with BOS and OKC in a 7-game series... I just can't see it

yeah, definitely was there for the taking at the end, but I'm trying to look at it glass half full. The team fought back hard from 11 points down or w/e in a game where they didn't have much firepower. That turnaround shot by brunson was a backbreaker, but also a very makeable shot for him. I'm watching the replay right now and he got a clean look from about 9 feet away. And if you watch the replay, you'll see that everyone else was guarded pretty closely and there was no easy pass to be made.

Not the best shot, but it was a solid look and I trust him after all he's done for us. If he had made it, we'd be calling him a hero.

If it were an absolutely terrible shot, then I'd be angry. But he got within 10 feet and got a clean look off. 29/8 on the game in 42 mins where he was the #1 option. I'm not gonna hate on these guys when they are clearly giving it their all shorthanded.

Take a look at the box score...0 points from deuce and sims, 3 from kolek who played 6 minutes. We had 5 guys tonight against 9 on the road. We fell apart because they were gassed for sure. I'm not gonna hate when they're playing that hard.

hart is being guarding by centers that are trash. he literally was guarded by sengun and steven adams this entire game. that is insulting and we were barely able to exploit it until the end using him as a screen and roller.

hart is a problem for this offense. anyone acting like it's not a concern has their blinders on.

listening to the KFS pod and hearing macri ask "who is the worst offensive player in the starting lineup" and actually having to think about it and act as if hart isn't a complete liability is absurd. he questions if deuce is better offensively. OG is actually being defended by real players and still putting up numbers. hart brings the hustle/rebounding etc and transition offense - but in the half court (what the playoffs largely becomes) he is an absolute liability. this team's best lineups in the playoffs are going to include him sitting on the bench.

hart needs to be a bench energy guy that plays 15-25 minutes a night depending on matchups. him starting and playing 30+ minutes is a big problem.

i understand now there are injuries so there aren't great alternatives. but i already know even when precious/mitch/shamet come back thibs is still going to start and play this guy 30+ minutes. he was playing him over divo last year until injuries forced him to play divo more. he overly emphasizes the "rebounding/hustle" component. that doesn't matter if he ruins your offense.

Hart wasn't the reason we lost this game... Jalen's selfish play and missing bunnies, the overall team's lack of boxing out, poor interior defense by KAT and OG on Sengun, poor coaching adjustments to their switch defense, Sims and McBride giving you zero... Hart actually had some huge plays for us several times that got us within 1 (steals, finishes, unselfish passes to teammates, etc.).
