Cam Payne was a difference between winning and losing that game. If he's in he might hit some shots, Brunson does not have to play as many minutes and can close out the 4th qtr stronger. Trickle up effect

It would not kill the Knicks to get some coaching help on the offensive side. Thibs has always been a insert player, let him cosplay Kobe but without any structure, offensive scheme.
This team has way too much firepower to not unleash hell on every opponent.

This makes me think that the analysis about post ups being bad offense might have merit. (Joking, I know it is)
I thought that Houston got away with a lot of fouling when KAT was trying to post up their wings, but I also think he didn't do a great job of establishing position. Either way, if opponents are going to put a wing on KAT I would take Hart out, put Deuce in and space the floor out.
Deuce went 0 for 9.
Can't be perfect every night

I'm not upset about the loss, but I do still have my doubts about KAT being our center full-time. I think we need KAT at the 4 and Mitch at the 5, and KAT can play center in the right situations.
At the very least, we need another rotation guy off the bench. Sims ain't it, and Kolek is too raw.
Brunson/Cam/Deuce can handle the guard spot and Hart/OG/Bridges should be enough on the wing.
We desperately need a center that can play defense. No way Sengun dominates Mitch the way he dominated Kat tonight.
I'm upset, not because what you said about the Rockets wasn't true. But this was still a very winnable game...and the coach and players didn't put out our best product. Towns with the dumb fouls, Brunson with the tunnel vision. Really only O.G. brought it.
yeah, definitely was there for the taking at the end, but I'm trying to look at it glass half full. The team fought back hard from 11 points down or w/e in a game where they didn't have much firepower. That turnaround shot by brunson was a backbreaker, but also a very makeable shot for him. I'm watching the replay right now and he got a clean look from about 9 feet away. And if you watch the replay, you'll see that everyone else was guarded pretty closely and there was no easy pass to be made.
Not the best shot, but it was a solid look and I trust him after all he's done for us. If he had made it, we'd be calling him a hero.
If it were an absolutely terrible shot, then I'd be angry. But he got within 10 feet and got a clean look off. 29/8 on the game in 42 mins where he was the #1 option. I'm not gonna hate on these guys when they are clearly giving it their all shorthanded.
Take a look at the box score...0 points from deuce and sims, 3 from kolek who played 6 minutes. We had 5 guys tonight against 9 on the road. We fell apart because they were gassed for sure. I'm not gonna hate when they're playing that hard.
All my bad feelings are confined to this one game. I agree the overall things will improve. We'll be getting a ton of bench depth in the next several months, and the players will continue to learn to play with each other. Thibs will eventually bench Sims for Huk, etc...

For 5 man lineups that have played at least 48 mins together by now, our starters have the 7th highest net rating. Our offensive rating is 4th highest, behind DEN, BOS, SAC. Our defensive rating is the 8th worst.

I agree. This shouldn’t even be an idea that gets floated around. This should just happen.

Correct… this team isn’t. But this core with more time to gel, another reliable bench scorer that can get you around 10ppg, and players like Precious and Mitch… we can definitely be a contender.
So, the Knicks made 3 trades and a two FA signings (one of whom was traded) to bring in 4 new players, while trading away effectively every last asset, and the end result is what looks like a 40 win team?
Solid FO work.

The next big challenge is figuring out how to punish switch-heavy defenses.... I imagine Brunson will improve his iso mojo eventually so that should help... I also imagine we'll do more Towns high post hand offs and back door passing plays against switch heavy defenses (ie running the offense through Towns + Bridges more instead of just spamming Brunson 1-on-1's). We'll get more creative eventually...

Until we get farther out the BOS game is going to really impact those DEF numbers.

It's going to be an adjustment for Brunson to learn how to play with KAT. KAT doesn't demand the ball like how Randle and Luka does. He'll figure that out I think.
KAT letting Sengun get whatever he wanted against him is more concerning imo.
Our biggest problem is Brunson isn’t a #1 guy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Didn't take long for 1/2 the fans to turn on OG and Brunson.
KAT, of course, came with a baked in 75% of all fans against him.
Love this place.

And I get the argument right, of Thibs doesn't trust the bench, they're young/inexperienced, whatever. Is this not the exact time you play them to see what they're made of? Like, we lost the game anyways, and we were only missing 1 player. The fact we really only played 8 players (and really it was only 7, Kolek only got 5 minutes lol) is inexcusable
82 games is a long season. You gotta manage wear and tear. It's not about mitigating big injuries as much as it's about mitigating the small, lingering injuries that pile up by the end.
We got to see enough of Kolek to learn he absolutely sucks on defense.
Why he was available late no longer a mystery.

I guess not.
We need few more games to adjust for players & coaches as well.
I feel positive that season will have good ending.

They just beat the Lakers. They are a talented team that’s still young and we are a mismatch for them.
They suck. That game proved nothing.
Indiana sucks on defense. That game proved nothing.
Beating Miami? They are always good. That proved something.
Knicks are 1-3 vs quality opponents.

I mean they outplayed the Knicks for 3 quarters and yet they were only down 3 with a couple minutes to go. I get fans want the win but that shows promise.
I meant the Knicks

You can eat the biggest bag of dicks of all once Brunson gets going.
He's not a good isolation player. Sure. Ok.

Re: PG: Knicks vs. Rockets where I want to strangle the refs
It's a shame the Knicks traded Randle since the same fans that trashed him have decided to turn on Brunson because "too many shots, he's selfish"
Do these people even watch the rest of the NBA? Are they aware that top options put up 20 shots a game regularly, to include the "point guard"
It isn't the 90's anymore. There aren't any Stockton/Mark Jackson point guards anymore.
Well, maybe Haliburton. He passes a lot. There. There's one. Chris Paul at the end of his career. There's the other.

Right. The problem isn't the shots, it's that he's missing shots he usually makes and is not adjusting when he's off.
Some more Kolek minutes would have had him better situated for a late game strike as well.

Deuce is 0-8 from 3 if you combine the last three times NY played Houston. His total #s for those three games... 4pts 1reb 3stl 2ast.
