I watched Arizona's first two pre-season games and really liked what I saw from him. He clearly looks like an NBA player on the floor. Not a high-level shot creator by any means but he has a solid all-around foundation to build on and obviously the length and athleticism to play in the NBA. He was ranked lower than I expected. Any thoughts on him early on?

I know Clyde likes him. My read is pretty basic from what I've seen, but has the size, athleticism, and skill found to become an NBA rotation player.

My sleeper one-and-done for this draft. Hopefully he gets some run cause he's got all the tools. Reminds me a bit of Pat Williams.

Happy to bump this thread now as he shows more and more flashes. I still like him as a lottery pick. The off-ball/spot-up shooting will be there in the NBA, I'm fairly confident in that. And then with his size and athleticism, the good defense and his ability to move the ball quickly – I'm positive that you have a long-term NBA player. Someone who'll never be a star but the kind of role player at the Forward spots that teams just love to have and play starter minutes when the quality threshold is passed.

He kind of reminds me of a taller PJ Washington.

I hate to say this but our starting C (Krivas) is out for the year and things really opened up for Bryant...I really feared he wasn't going to get PT with that bum Krivas on the court.

I don't think so. The MPJ in this draft, IMO, is Bailey. Carter is different in his style. He is not as dynamic scoring the ball but I really appreciate his quick passing and defensive motor (of course you need to buy his shot for all of it to matter). But I don't have a great comparison in mind for him either. A bigger DFS? PJ Washington (what he became in the NBA) isn't a terrible call either but I'm not sure there's this one obvious comparison for him.

His shot has progressed very nicely over the past month or so. He has hit 14 out of last 27 (52%) shots from 3 and has flashed a bit in the midrange. The FT% should also not worry anyone considering the small sample size and that he was good from the line in HS from what I found. He's also being trusted more by the coaches and has been closing several games, primarily due to what he brings on defense in addition to trusting him to shoot open 3s.

When I look at his profile, I just see the perfect NBA role player. Proper 6'8 with a reported 7-foot-wingspan, very good frame, physical and athletic, very capable shooter who moves smartly off the ball. Super switchable on defense and well-equipped to play the 4 in the NBA. His on-ball skills are limited but he makes the extra pass and plays within himself – in other words, a role player.

I think he can be to a playoff team what Keegan Murray is to the Kings (perhaps with somewhat different roles on defense as Bryant can offer a lot of value as a backline defender whereas Murray has gotten a lot of the tough perimeter assignments with the Kings). Or shades of Trey Murphy III if his on-ball game takes a step forward. And which NBA team wouldn't want that? That's a good lottery pick right there.

He has a nice combination of athleticism, defensive playmaking, play finishing and spot-up shooting at 6'8" / 220 lbs. Sneaky Shane Battier potential. I'm assuming the FT% will work itself out.

Keegan Murray is a good mention. Bryant's current rate of defensive playmaking has him in pretty rare company, especially for a freshman. He's looking like an Andre Roberson with more size that can actually hit open 3s.

According to bartortorvik database, he's one of 9 players since 2008 to have a block % over 5 (5.9%), steal percentage over 3 (3.6%), and hit 35%+ from 3 on at least 5 attempts per 100. He's the only freshman in that group.

If you eliminate the minimum 3PA, the number jumps to 29. Only 2 freshmen--Carter Bryant and Andre Roberson.

He’s been playing a lot more. Our coach realizes that Trey Townsend is not a high level D1 player. I wouldn’t be surprised if Carter starts tomorrow against Texas tech.

Looking like Ryan Dunn 2 years ahead of schedule with better shooting and offensive flashes.
