His weakness is as a finisher, but outside that he's pretty much a threat everywhere else. And you can't exactly foul him either.

You can absolutely foul him in the dying seconds of a game because that's when it's least likely to be called. A closer needs to be able to self create and handle contact.

1. You are just repeating what I said in the bold.
2. My point was, if he gets daylight regardless if he gets fouled or not, he's likely going to score for 2-3 points either by making the bucket, or at the FT line.

I'm not saying he's anywhere near there now, but from a shot making perspective he has it. It's just a question of self creation.

And I'm pretty sure that if the Raps had drafted at a higher spot in that draft, Coulibaly would have been the choice. And we'd be equally happy and rapturous of Masai.

If Gradey came into the league looking like a teenager, Kelly came in looking like a 40 year old

The other guy I haven't seen a lot of mention of that Gradey could compare to is Kevin Martin, they are similar sized I think, moved and shot well, and were firmly in the tier below all-star despite putting up around 20 ppg for several seasons.

Kevin Martin was extremely adept at drawing fouls, and was a 60% TS guy from 07-11. With a .565 FTr.

Not sure he's a really strong comparison, other than the fact that he was a slender movement shooter.

I took "self creation" to mean generating your own shot off the dribble. That is a necessary but insufficient trait for being a closer, though. Lots of smaller guards can create, but they can't handle the contact at the end of games or take it inside. And that's not a huge criticism or anything, there are very few closers in the league.

Fair point, I was very much focused on the movement shooting in my recollection of his style, much like the Rip Hamilton comparison others have made.

Yeah. But Martin also slashed aggressively, so he is not a strong comparison. Rip is closer, but didnt support the same kind of 3pt volume.

Rough game, but it's possible a slump might happen and even I admit I was riding the Gradey high a bit much for a while, it was fun though.

You just hope he won't join the injury list, he's body still far from finish and with short roster we have, the fatigue will easy wearing out, which might lead another injury if unlucky.
