Lakers are done. So should the warriors but here they’re still giving us nightmares.

The warriors are 7-1. And that's without Steph for a few of their games. Let's not act like we're the only team that's lost to them.

Also, no nightmares for me. I slept like a baby last night. I'm not sweating a close loss in early November, with 2 of our all-stars out.. :)

Celtics scored on only 2 of JT's 14 potential assists. Warriors tried to take him out as a scorer in the 1st half by making him give up the ball. For the most part, he made the right reads. Teammates didn't cash in. 2/14 is absurd and likely to not happen again esp. when we're whole. He also still got his when the opportunity presented itself. 30 pts on 20 shots is good enough on most nights while missing two other All-Star calibre starters. More disappointing was his defense in the 4th. He was involved in a couple of missed rotations and closeouts. Might be under the weather, might be fatigue but he was seen puffing his inhaler at some point.

What's most exciting about this early season is Joe giving guys like Queta and Walsh the opportunity, experience, and confidence that will pay off later on, if not already. Same thing that happened with Pritchard, Kornet, and Hauser as soon as Joe took over.

You really think its pathetic that Boston needs their second and third best players to beat what seems to be a legit warriors team?

The only thing pathetic is that Tatum becomes Mister Softy when playing the Warriors.

And it's not out of the realm of possibility that the Warriors may have one last Championship run left in them
and they meet the Celtics in the Finals.

Hopefully, Brown is healthy for that series, because if there's one thing we've learned,
it's that Tatum Turtles against them.

But with Brown and Porzingis, things should be much different this time around...

Oh c'mon. He had 32 points on 50% FG and 50% from 3 with good defense.

In March 2024, we beat the warriors by 52. Tatum was 9/13 FG, 4/5 from 3, 27 points in just 25 mins.

If the warriors win the 2025 title with their 3 best players being a 37 year old Steph (he'll be 37 by the playoffs), a 35 year old Draymond and Buddy Hield, they would be one of the most improbable champions in NBA history. They're pretty good, good enough to barely win a meaningless game against us in early November. They're not winning 4 games in an NBA finals series this season..

He was being double teamed the entire game and still managed to get 32 points on 50% shooting. Don't really think he was the issue last night

In the long run this loss is good for us. Our defense needs to get better and we need more scoring off our bench. In a game like this Holiday needed to be featured more on offense. Joe had to know they were going to double team tatum. Also thoughts springer and walsh should have played more. Double bigs were too slow and werent working

No other superstars are double teamed in the NBA?
His rebounds and assists were down.
Wiggins did not play in that Celtics blow out.
This is a much better Warriors club, similar to the 2022 team, in which Tatum struggled.
The leading scorer for the Warriors in that blowout was Quinones with 17.
But the Celtics should certainly be favored if they meet in the Playoffs,
and it appears that Porzingis has never faced Golden State as a Celtic,
as he's been out for the last three games against them.
I expect that he will have a huge impact...

Too many sensitive people complaining about our sensitive people being sensitive to losing :D

My point is not one critic on here who hated losing to GS thinks Boston, when fully healthy, shouldn't be a clear Favorite to repeat. Some of us just need to vent!!

So chill Bro's..
2 things need to go.. my lack of spell check and Joe..

The loss itself doesn't mean much but Queta showing he can play in games like last night does. Best game of his career.
The most charitable interpretation is that it's ethnic cleansing and massive war crimes.

Warriors first half defense was right out of the Miami playbook. C's looked unprepared for it. Tatum always struggles with aggressive physicality for a bit until he can adjust.

Ok, we get it. JT is soft and GS have our number
What do you suggest?

IMO we lost on 3 botched defensive plays and 3 offensive rebounds from Looney - all in the last 7-8 minutes
The effort wasn't there and the lineup wasn't good
Learn and play better next time

Yet they’re still here handling us. We need a fulled stack Celtics team to handle them. Think about that for a second.

I can’t wait for the rematch. This game irks me.

Do we need a full stacked Celtics team to beat the Pacers too? It's one game in early November. We won't win them all, but we're alright and not the end of the world. Yeah it was a 6 point loss, but you take away the 3 free throws to Curry that should have obviously been overturned and it's a tie game with 16 seconds left. You take away the BS tech on JT, especially when Kuminga jumped up and down upset with a foul and did the same arm thing and your normal Dray BS and him yelling in the face of a ref with no tech, and we're up 1 with 16 seconds left. Who knows how the final 16 seconds play out but we have a chance to win/tie/OT.

IDK why, but I can't stop re-watching that video. He really was lost, like JB gets roasted for it level lost. Oh well, just one play in early November. Props to DWhite for guarding the ball handler then seamlessly switching to the shooter to contest without a hesitation at all. That's part of why I keep re-watching. Derrick really is a treasure and an amazingly smart basketball player.

Tatum does see more double teams, more defenders helping aggressively at the nail and more unorthodox coverages to throw him off his game than pretty much every player in the league, though. With guys like LeBron and Giannis (and Embiid on the rare occasion that he plays) you just dare them to shoot from the perimeter.

KD, you play way up on him, make him try and go to the rim. Luka, it's hard to double team him a lot when he's got Kyrie to pass to. That's where playing the game last night without JB and KP hurts us. Teams can really load up on Tatum with those guys out.

bigfoot_cryptozoology wrote:His rebounds and assists were down.

It's just one game. You're not going high totals in every category in all 82 games..it happens.

Perhaps rebounds were down because we were playing double bigs. When he's in there mostly at the 4, his rebounds probably go up..

And assists can often fluctuate depending on how well your teammates happen to be shooting that night so it's more about shooting luck than something Tatum can control.

bigfoot_cryptozoology wrote:This is a much better Warriors club, similar to the 2022 team, in which Tatum struggled.

The warriors are better this season than last year. Last year's team seemed to be a mess..they just didn't quite click for most of the season..2 rookies playing heavy mins (Podz and TJD)..2 other young guys playing heavy mins who were just ok (Kuminga, Moody)..the chemistry was off with Klay, seems like he had 1 foot out the door, Wiggins had personal issues which caused him to miss games and he wasn't as good when he did play.

Seems like they're much better defensively now with Saric and Klay gone. And with Kyle Anderson there.

With that being said, they are not nearly on the same level as that 2022 championship team. Mainly because there's a big difference between a team that is led by 2 hall of famers age 34 and 32 and a team that's led by 2 hall of famers, age 37 and 35. 3 years makes a big difference. Also, that 2022 team was on a damn mission..they (especially Steph) were hell bent on proving they could win another title and didn't need KD to do it. This season? They've got nothing left to prove. They might make the playoffs and win a round or 2 there but realistically, I think those guys know they're not legit title threats anymore.

They'll be much better against GS, if/when Porzingis actually plays against them.
I think if Brown had played last night, the Celts would have won.
So, have a healthy Brown and Porzingis, and they could dominate the Warriors.

If SloMo goes back to back to back on triples while Tatum goes 2/14 on potential assists during the rematch or a potential Finals matchup then yes we should be very worried. I think Steph going nuclear for 50 is more likely than those 2 scenarios happening again.
I'm not taking them lightly as they're a solid team with championship core pieces and a 4 time Finals winner head coach. I'm just saying they had a really good GAME, one game, against us. Hats off to them, but I'm not convinced we should worry about them making the Finals. When they cut their rotation down for playoffs they won't be able to play as fast or as aggressive defensively, so there's risk of regular season success coming up short in the playoffs. Even if they figure it out winning is hard and it's no guarantee we make it back to the Finals either. I've seen enough of our team last year, pre-season, and this year to not freak out over this game. I've seen and heard enough from Joe to believe they'll learn from this game and it'll make us better as well. The title has me taking a deep breath also. If anyone else wants to freak out though go ahead... just do it quietly please lol.

It's even harder to watch, now seeing just how unprepared Tatum was. Down 4 with 50s left and no one bothering to cover Hield. Warriors have two of the best clutch shooters. No excuse for strolling upright like it's a walk in the park.

JT checked out, simple as that.
